3d printer for rc parts

Yep found the mod for the CR-10. Appreciate the article. I have the pieces print for the mod. I'll start with that article and move on from there.

Does lowing the print speed help at all?

Thanks

I have not tried printing any flexible material, but from what I gather the print speed does need slowed down a bit.

Yes, it does. But there is a optimal window for print speed.
Too fast, you squish the filament which jams the extruder.
Too slow, you get heat creep which swells the filament and jams the extruder.

Works out great. I reduced the dimensions for my rigs.

Been busy tag teaming the normal parts and projects but been working on this little room in my basement. Ive had the printers on a desk in my daughters room but wanted to give her a study area back.

Still got some tidying up and finishing things to do but got the room loaded last night. Ceiling is covered with plastic so no dust falling, house is old and crooked, and gonna add some shelves for storage above the machines. Also gonna build some small plastic enclosures for the machines to help them keep their temps while printing the tougher plastics like nylon and maybe some metal filled filaments.

I tried printing a part that's about half to 3/4 the size of my small print bed using PETG filament. I had corner warping problems. I haven't had that issue in a long time. But it's been a while since I tried a complex print.

Bed temp?

PETG usually needs high bed temps, Im always at 85* bed when I print it.

I think it was at 65° yesterday. With my new bed surface, of which I forget the name, I've been having luck with lower bed temperatures. I will try raising it next time though as well as cleaning my bed surface.

I cleaned my bed with rubbing alcohol and raised the bed temp to 80°, which is as high as my Select Mini will go, and the results were much better. Thank you.

PETG was a bitch for me and I still dont have it where Id like it. I learned high temps and it likes to be layed down instead of smooshed onto the table like PLA.

Looks good "thumbsup"

I start the first layer at 240, no fan. 235 all other layers, fan at 84% bed at 80. I do have a micro Swiss all metal hotend, and auto tune at 240

So what does a print that is done on a temperature that is too low typically look like?
It depends on which temperature you're talking about - extruder or bed.

I had my bed temp too low and my print wasn't adhering properly to the bed. Instead the edges would curl up and then the prints would get ruined.

I am using Cura with my Monoprice Select Mini and I can't get the fan to turn off no matter what I do.

Cura has fan/ cooling settings.
I run a custom profile, and can adjust when fan is on / off and what layer or height. Can you manually configure cura?

Yeah I see the fan settings. I've unchecked cooling and it doesn't stop the fan. Beyond that I haven't played with it.

Anyone play around with their Bios through the Adruino program?

I flashed mine to the Skynet A8 and I like it but I dont like the 'jerk' speed it gave the machine. This thing rips around fast but man its hard on the acceleration between movements. Just feels like its not giving me as good of prints as before.

Found some info, this is what Im fighting now.

Can't you turn down the Jerk speed in the firmware?

I have a panel that I can set the fan at, remember if the gcode tells the fan to do something , it won’t override always

You mean gcode won't override the printer?

The silver PETG CMS mount for my CMX, as seen a few posts above, printed nicely, but the holes are too small for the body posts. I'm not sure if I'm having shrinkage and the designer didn't account for that (the model isn't mine) of if I'm out of calibration.

I’ve found when I wanted to manually set something against the g code from my slicer, it goes back next layer ? To what gcode tells it.
