Whats the Best 100$ Servo

My V2 just out lived another body. I don't want it to break but man I want a reason to get a cozi and stickers.

do you mean the HH V2? or a Promodeler? It seems like they are the two highest performance to dollar ratio for the 100$ range. I still dont know which one I want to go with. On one hand Ive got HH motors and love them, on the other I dont mind giving another quality company a chance.

^^^ He's talking about ProModeler, it has also gone through multiple revisions as the Holmes has, but ProModeler servos now come with a kickass koozie and a sweet sticker sheet...

A used 7950

Hell yea so you can have even less of a chance that hitech will warranty it when, not if it fails because you don't have a receipt. Good call. "thumbsup"

Promodler all day, every day. Best servo at that price point I've had the pleasure of running.

So heres a good question for you specifically since you have promodeler and the savox black edition servo, for general crawling and at most entry level class 1 comp is the promodeler "good enough" or should I just save up for the savox?

Yes it's good enough for most purposes. I ran it in my other sportsman for over a year and never so much as a hiccup. Mine was a V4 with 420 oz of power, the V5 has 50 more oz so I'm sure it would fit the bill.

What about the Savox waterproof high torque 100$ SW0241? 555 oz/in at 7.4v, and waterproof to boot. Savox seems to have a lot of servos at this price range, but not a lot of reviews on some of these models out there.

Just to be clear, my big plan is to buy this next servo once and not have to worry about another one for at least a year. I sorta got ripped off by the local hobbytown selling me a 1211 savox HV waterproof, at only 277oz/in for 85$. I didnt do the research first and felt burnt on the purchase. It turns super fast, but its terrible for crawling. Its in my Slash now and I have a 20kg PowerHD in the Honcho but its just not enough to move the tires the way I want on the rocks. So my end goal here is to make the right purchase and feel like I didnt screw up again.

Savox sells 2 servos worth the cash. 1283 and 2290. Everything you see that's orange and black or blue is straight up garbage.

Thats sorta what I thought but since reading your thread and a few others about the 2290 I thought maybe they made good products in general. Seems its more like they make 1 or 2 good ones. I had originally planned on the HH2.0, I wonder if I should just go with that. I just want to get a quality long lasting product.

Read up on Holmes longevity before laying down the cash.

This is not a commentary on John Holmes or his Customer services.

But hands down you can not beat the service at promodeler. I could literally go back in my phone and find text messages the owner sent me asking questions about how I use his product, how it is working and him answering questions I have. I feel pretty confident if I had an issue I could reach out to him and get a personal response and not some canned Tech support response.

John at promodeler has such good customer service that a holmes hobby servo isnt even a consideration. I have a pretty high regard for Holmes Hobby and John Holmes, so that tells you something.

You were doing so good and then you took it too far. There are other Savox servos that are just fine.

But the annoying and ancient problem of noisy Savox servos trying to find center is making me start to hate them. This problem existed when they were first released and it's still present, what, 10 years later? Simply inexcusable.

What’s the tourqe on the promodeler 470 in kg? Would it be alright in a bomber, or is the savox 2290 the better choice?

Well I talked with John at promodeler and the 470s are out of stock until the end of July. So that sucks.
