35T brushed vs. 1900kv sensored brushless.

I have a 35T brushed motor in my scx10 and im loooking at a castle 1900kv sensored motor and im wondering if anyone can shed some info on the difference between the two. I want the low end crawl but a little extra wheelspeed. Will the 1900kv get me what i want???? Any input is appreciated

What ESC are you planning on getting with the Castle 1900kv?

I'm using a Mamba X - it's so capable that a sensorless Holmes Hobbies 1800kv Revolver outrunner is a blast in my Bomber - even on 3S...

It's REALLY fun on 4S!

Tons of low-speed control with the Revolver, and plenty of wheelspin when I want/need it.

Using the 3rd channel switch on my FlySky GT3C switches the Aux Wire function from Rock Racer Mode to Rock Crawler Mode - in my case, that turns the drag brake on and off - so handy!

As Durok mentioned it comes down to the esc. Only a very few brushed motors will handle 4s... however the slate 1900kv motor is rated at up to 4s .

I also have the Mamba X and it is just amazing (it can run up to 6s) this also has a decent BEC so you can upgrade your servo and not have to add an external BEC which can save you 30 bucks, and a bunch of soldering.

The key with the slate motor is you can add more volts. so you can run on 2s or 3s ( at 1900kv) and not notice much difference in speed. You then have the option to use a 4s, (5s, or 6s would work but you could run into issues) battery to really get the revs going (and increase your top end). Adding the extra voltage of a 4s also improves efficiency to I believe...

This being said, You will need to have an ESC that can handle the extra voltage of a 4s lipo . if you are intending to stay on 2s or 3s maybe look at the 2850kv or even the 3800kv versions.

I just installed a mamba micro x with a 1900kv on my 10.2, upgrading from a torquemaster 27t. The brushless has more top end speed, the drag brake is a lil bit weaker, and the low speed is pretty much on par when setup correctly.

I used to ran 35T brushed motor and 2200kv brushless ( Sorry it was not 1900kv ) motor on my SCX10.2. 35T a bit slower I would expected on my brushless motor and lack of wheel speed. However, I really impressed by its ( 35T brushed )low speed control and drag brake. 2200kv was really for trailing, bashing, easy to maintaining ( less hassle than brushed motor ) more torque even in 4s and wheel speed off cause. was your torquemaster a 540 or 550 can?

Take this with a grain of salt since I have never owned anything more expensive then a $20 holmes trailmaster 550.

Brushed motors are good up to 2200kv on 3s. 2200 seems to be their sweet spot for power. Holmes has stated his motors can handle 4s but you get more brush wear.

Right now I dont think there is a brushless setup that can match the crawlmaster on slow startup.

So if your getting a motor that's less than 2200kv on 3s, I believe a good brushed motor is a better option. Plus it works with your existing esc.
