Jeep j10 Honcho " Twister " now with Dorothy

Glad to see this one back, lotta OGs around this joint lately..

Something has gotta keep this place going. I have the emergency lights on order from eBay...coming from China so it may be a while  I re watched the movie again and there is a lot more stuff to be made. The pics I have are after its planted into the ground so a lot of stuff broke off I guess.

Now its finally starting too look the part

I spent all last week and the majority of this weekend getting this thing up to par. This included a lot of paint work and detailing with adding the proper rust and black wash. I am very pleased with the outcome aside from the one radar thing which I washed to much and looks off now, that'll get re done this week.

The majority of the sensors are done, probably need to make up maybe 10 more or so. I also came up with a way to make the lid removable which I initially struggled on. I ended up going with tiny earth magnets :biggthumpup:I need to obtain some more small heat shrink so I can finish up the emergency lights wiring. Then I got "wire" up all the devices.

One thing I am struggling on is I bough the scale ratchet straps from RC4WD, the issues is that they appear to be a one time use as i cant get them to ratchet freely... I was thinking maybe I could swap on of then leads for an elastic material so I can unhook it by just stretching it up and itll still maintain the accurate look  If anyone has some insight on that id appreciate the help

onto the pics!

Awesome build! Amazing attention to detail and it has Dorothy I!

Twister rocks, I named my dog Paxton, after Bill Paxton. His tag has his nickname on there, “The Extreme”.

This is just...bad ass! Awesome work! "thumbsup"

The people I know that have the RC4WD ratchet straps have also found them to be disposable.

Maybe something like the harnesses from The Toyz would work a little bit better?

Yeah I need something that looks the part that can be easily manipulated to be loosened or tightened as the Dorothy needs to be able to come out in order to get the body off and to change the batteries in it

I figured as much. You'd think there has to be something in the doll world or 1/6th world that would work...

Not a ratchet strap, but maybe something like this?

Scale ratchet straps - RC Truck and Construction

Thanks, I was looking for it to have more of the Ratcheting part look, I think Ive figured something out for it

Mike....... Your a bad man... Spot on my brother:mrgreen:

I am 1BADjeepbruiser after all :ror:"thumbsup"

Mike badd a$$ build that's for sure. Loving all the detail.

Thanks man, really wanted the dorothy to be as spot on as possible

I made up the wind anemometers, which means the Dorothy itself is nearing its final steps of completion. On the truck itself, I used 3 old tamiya head light bulbs kits, which are incandescent bulbs, and wired up the roll bar lights and head lights. I also chopped up and fitted a set of n00b Hilux front inner fenders well which worked out awesome...because Jeepota ! I also finally installed the Krawler Koncepts license plate and had them send me out a CB radio for the interior.

On the to do list is:
braze tabs onto front bumper for KC lights
Install KC lights onto front bumper
paint front bumper
Make CB radio glass mounted antenna
Make googles that were hanging on rear window and hook
Make old school style car telephone

and I think thats it... USTE is quickly approaching and I need it ready for the GCM Show and Shine!

Based on the thread in the chit chat section, I will go old school RCC to show my approval without using the like button while gently ribbing with the respect of deserved of a long time member.

Great job on this build, almost makes me want to go watch Twister again.

Even though USTE is coming up quick, that to do list is pretty short. You are going to have to make room in the luggage to carry home at minimum the trophy for Best Scale Accessory, I would suggest leaving the flat brim douche bro hats at home. :flipoff:

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

But but how am I suppose to show how I was big asshole on Rccrawler to n00bz nearly 14 years ago without wearing my 2018 axial fest flat brim trucker hat with my skinny jeans from my bmx days and my Osiris d3 skate board shoes :ror:

I’m actually driving down this year, I’m gonna bring a shit ton of toy trucks !

Coming home with some hardware again would be great but with the talent of last year I’m sure it’s gonna be tough to compete.

Super nice build! Love all of the detail.

After reading this awesome thread I realized where I have seen your build before. I have been subscribed to your YouTube channel for awhile now and never put 2 and 2 together.

Thanks for sharing and I enjoy your videos. You have an amazing R/C collection also.

Helen Hunt in that white shirt and cold temps makes you want to "twister" something else. :lmao: But now she's old school...as in granny.

The truck is exceptional. Wish I was going to USTE so I could see it in person.
