So what's with HPI?

Holy frackin mis-management Batman! Was wondering the other day when I saw a shop selling off HPI kits for rather low prices, before that was the forever to release Venture CVDs.

I wish we had some kind of interview with a couple ex-HPI guys about what was going on at that time. It seems like a miracle now that the Venture ever actually got released.

I'm not sure if this is the parent company (Ripmax) or just HPI. I don't think HPI ever got the funding they needed to come back out of it. They could have just imported replacement parts they needed for old models and survived in some fashion. Mismanagement may not be true, it may simply be that they couldn't fund it in the first place, which in turn could still just be called mismanagement.

I had heard that this was going to become public but was waiting to try and find some official docs. Still haven't seen anything verified for certain.

Hows official UK public record for confirmation?

https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/3249169

There have been no filings for Ripmax that I have found.

Well dang thats no good. I really hope something good can come of this, maybe a new owner could turn it around if they sell. Hoping for the best

Damn. Guess I better stock up on the parts that the aftermarket and myself can't deal with - axle housings, trans/tcase housings, gears come to mind.

Is this just in the UK? That Gazzete article just gave UK addresses.

HPI Racing Ltd based in the UK is the lone corporate entity of HPI after Ripmax bought them. There is no HPI Europe, HPI America, HPI Asia like there used to be, there is just HPI Racing Ltd who filed bankruptcy.

Ahh I see now. Didn't realise that as never really paid much attention to it. I used to race HPI's 1/8 electric buggy and truggy, but that was about 8 years ago.

This time last year I was waiting on replacement parts for my Deadbolt while Hobbico was going through bankruptcy and this year I'm waiting on parts for my Venture. What company should I take down next year by buying right after the first of the year?

So, who's gonna release Ken Block editions now?

Traxxas would be a good fit, imho...

I'd like to see the Hoonitruck body on a 4-tec!

One of the things that will make me the saddest about HPI shutting down if no one buys them up are their touring car bodies...

So nice looking, great selection.

Also they have great road/rally wheel and tire choices!
