SCX24 v2

I’ve seen some mention of SCX24 v2 out in the wild. Anyone know the differences in v1 and v2? Worth the wait for a v2? This build would get a new ESC and RX regardless. Will v1 parts work on them?

I have seen it mentioned in Facebook groups. The Jeeps are appearing on AMain’s website now. I’ve heard they have a 4 channel radio now but nothing else.

I ordered one from Horizon hobby and received it yesterday. It is indeed a 4 channel radio. I haven't played with it much yet. One thing I noticed offhand is there isn't a L-M-H switch on the new transmitter.

My next door neighbor gave me an SCX24 a few days ago, as a combo Xmas/'thank you' (for helping him numerous times with some of his RCs) gift, and I can confirm it now comes with a 4Ch Tx & Rx. Here's the new Tx included with the "new" SCX24.

As you can see, it is, indeed, a 4Ch. Ch 3 is a 3-position switch, for turning the front bumper LEDs off-on-flashing. The Ch 4 button, as far as I'm aware, unused (haven't yet played around with it enough to accurately determine). Based on the design of the wheel, I'm guessing the new Tx & Rx are supplied by FlySky. I could be wrong on this assumption, as I'm basing this purely on the fact that the design of the wheel matches the wheel on my Noble NB4. For an inexpensive Tx, it seems quite sturdy...and, I REALLY like the simulated carbon fiber on the grip (front & back), as well as on top. The simulated CF on a lot of other things looks cheap...is super-easy to tell it's not real CF...but, the simulated CF on this Tx is almost believable.

My local hobbyshop said they made minute changes to the esc electronics due to supply chain shortages, changed the remote and call it a v2.

One unfortunate attribute of the V2 receiver is that it does not have a channel-2 throttle channel output.
So you cannot use it with an external ESC, as you would for a brushless motor.

Isn't that the case with most...if not all...ESC/Rx combos? I mean, I know there are very few ESC/Rx combos on the market...but, of those I'm aware of (this one, DasMikro, Kyosho), that's how they all are. I don't consider it an "unfortunate attribute"...I consider it as just "what it is".

As an ESC with a built-in Rx (or the other way around, depending on your point of view), honestly, I don't see any need for the Rx 'side' to have a Ch2 port.

I just got the orange Jeep Wrangler in the mail along with a grey c10. The wrangler came with the new speed control and radio. The c10 came with the old setup. This was 2 days ago from AMainhobby. Both trucks are the the same speed, there is an ever so slight lag between when hitting the throttle and when the truck moves on the old style. The jeep with the new esc and 4 channel radio has quicker response pretty much Instant throttle response. The new style is also quieter and is easier to crawl really slow.

It is indeed unfortunate considering the previous version included this feature.
