Because I’m jealous of my wife’s rig, scale truck build

Thanks for posting the pic so clearly of the Boom Racing screw gauge - I've been looking for something like that all over the place -I ordered 3 of 'em just now using the part number!

Yeah no problem. I thought it was a cool little tool. I didn’t end up using it but I’m sure I will for something.

Thanks for posting pics. Howeverz, I'm disappointed that it's, also, not a really a true scale or good iteration of a chassis for that body, so for ME, thats a bummer again! Definitely looks durable, and less Wal-Mart grade though!!!! Should last as long as scx10ish. I may, actually, I am going to just buy the chassis for the 1/9 Toyota LC80 (I have that, too) and see if it would fit under this with a slight stretch or so......... has radius arms up front.
*Edit: bed looks awesome 👌
I'm not sure if I'm after this, "stolen image of someone's bed". lol but this looks sweet imho

I do agree with it not being scale to the body. It has to be durable with all the aluminum, steel mixed into the chassis parts. It does feel very stout, without being super heavy.

I do plan on doing rear leafs to at least give it some scale realism. Good thing about the brx01 and 02, they sell conversions for both and they just bolt right on.

Do you think it would be hard to go full leaf on that chassis? My buddy has an itch for a one ten scale and I know he’ll be happier with a leafer. I’m just keeping a look out for things that might interest him.

I don’t think so. It’s looks like it’s a pretty straight forward swap. I “think” you can also just order the brx02 kit and one of them comes full leaf. The Land Rover or something.

They also sell the leaf complete kit and it’s all bolt on. The frame has notches in it to mount the perches for the shackles.

Started on the body again tonight.

I had the worst time trying to get the roll up doors to fit. The “hinge” part would not line up. Door shut, had an 1/8” gap. Door wouldn’t even shut unless I took the hinge part off. Doors seem to be warped as well, the top of the door was “open” while the bottom was not. I gave up. I took no pictures of the issues, but for a few minutes it almost went in the trash. Killerbody stuff is just not very good quality, vs tf2 bodies. Maybe it’s my big ass hands. Who knows but I’m ordering new doors and they won’t open. I’d fix the ones I have if the door cards weren’t glued into the door itself.

I somehow lost a piece to the snorkel at the top too.

Next step is to cut the front gray bumper to fit the arb, I’ll work on that tomorrow.

Got word that my new bed is already in the states! That’s quick considering I ordered it last Friday.

Here’s how it sits now

Searched the web for just the cab and door parts tree, everywhere is sold out! So, I just went back to where I got the body from originally, Amain, and order a whole new body kit just to use the doors. I’m not going to use the roll up windows, while super cool, the fit is not good. Don’t even feel like messing with it. I’m trying to get the truck ready for an event at the end of June. I’ll just bolt the doors on like normal and do the interior (if that even fits right).

Also, after Amain had the return for 2 days (killerbody mercury chassis) I finally got word they opened the box and found my nsdrc servo. They said they will just ship it back to me, that’s pretty awesome. I was more than willing to just have it refunded and I’d buy it again. I was just figuring the worst, the box goes back in inventory and someone who bought that kit would get a free $60 servo lol

New cchand bed should be here in a few days and I can get the cab and bed mounted.

The more I think about it, I may just give the extra body and parts to my son, he can then paint it and make it his own. He’s got the Toyota love like I do, even though they’ve been the most unreliable vehicle I’ve owned in real life 😂

I do want to get the opening hood kit for the body, but I don’t see any engine bays for the lc70 anywhere..

Whipped up the interior tonight. Pretty frikkan scale! I like it. The seats move forward and back and tilt, Steering wheel tilts, seats are silicone and the cluster and radio are lit up!

It’s a pita don’t get me wrong. My big fingers can’t get those little pieces together, especially the pins for the seats lol

But it looks pretty good 👍

Found some more time to put on the arb bumper and reinforcement mounts. Probably my favorite thing about the lc70 with this bumper.

I’m probably gonna get the skids that have the bar work that attaches to the front bumper. I should have got that in the first place since it comes with the bumper but oh well. More parts for my son to build with lol

Interior is gonna need some trimming but not much I don’t think. I barely hits and keeps the body about 3/8” up where it would mount.

Rx came in so now I can hook that up once the servo comes back. Amain shipped it back to me for free. Very nice of them. I offered to pay and / or just have it refunded.

My doors also don't close fully, and I suspect it's because of the door cards interfering with something.

I have those same door cards that include the roll up / down window. I took the window panes out.

Your build is looking pretty rad so far. I want to see the new bed.

Yeah, I tried and tried but the fit didn’t look good so I gave up. It’s a cool concept but the functionality isn’t there for me. Plus, one window the crank “skipped” a tooth and then got stuck. I had to force it to turn and it popped the window off the track lol.

I can’t wait for this bed. It’s supposed to be here today but my usps location is far from good

So sick, nice job on the interior. The safety sticker is a nice touch, lol. Looking forward to this one a lot.

ah thanks! It’s tedious building these killerbody kits but the end result (if I didn’t mess it up) is worth it. I’m glad it’s RH drive too.

Ordered some more parts for it last night.

3s Muscle winch and mount kit.
Vm sliders/ body mount
Killer body light kit (to plug in all these lights!)

I was gonna pull the trigger on the bumper, slider and fender bar work kit but it says it doesn’t fit the brx01 chassis. Do I really wanna spend $130 for just the fender bar work that connects to the slider and front bumper? I could just give the sliders and bumper to my son, since he’s not going to be putting the body on a brx01 chassis.

I’ll decide after today, I’ve got a metal roof to install on a patio cover extension I built. And if I get it done I’ll be happy enough to waste the money on it.

Bed came today along with the new body.

Doors and parts are already painted and waiting to dry.

Bed it mounted to the frame via 4 screws. The frame already has threaded holes in it? Wuttt?! That’s a neat addition. Makes mounting so much easier.

It’s gonna need new foams in the rear for sure the bed has some weight to it and it squats the rear end a bit.

It’s almost ready to drive. Have to install the servo, rx and hook up the shift linkage.

The doors are still wonky. The top of the doors have two posts that are supposed to screw into from the inside (brackets installed after windshield is installed) but they don’t line up. I’m gonna grab some new ca glue with a fine tip and glue the doors shut.

I’m not even gonna try to put the hard plastic mirrors on, I’m gonna wait the 5-7 weeks for the rubber ones to come from china. I just know I’ll break the hard plastic ones on the trails

Sick truck, it is a bummer the working doors and such didn’t work out though. I guess we’ll be seeing that in the next build? lol

I would like too but that would require a new body set again and I’ve got my eyes on Range Rover build lol

It’s alive! Servos hooked up, shift servo and rx is stuffed in the rx box. Which is a tight fit if you run a flysky.

It does look so good running. The ultra slow speed crawling is a blast. In high speed it gets up and goes. It’s not a rocket but it’s fast enough, even with a 1200kv.

The high clearance skid that’s on the way to me is much needed.

Also, glued the doors shut where they didn’t line up well, it was driving me nuts.

Your bed looks a bit shorter than the CC Hand bed. The distance from the fender to the tailgate appears shorter.

But that pairs nicely with the BRX01 chassis, which will certainly crawl better than the GCM chassis. That shorter bed should give a better departure angle.

I frequently get hung up on that angle because it's much worse than my approach angle.

The front bumper looks great! And your matching of the gray parts is noticeable.

If you're looking for sturdier foams Crazy Crawlers makes good ones for 1.55 tires. I'm running their 7-10LBS foams in my rear tires.

I am glad I swapped beds. This one literally just dropped right onto this chassis and 4 screws later it’s attached. I’m sure I would have had to drill holes, trim something on the other one.

I can already tell the fenders and the bar behind the cab is gonna be spots that the paint is gonna be worn from. Just driving around my front yard I was scraping it on everything lol.

Thanks! I was hoping the grays/ silvers would work together

I grabbed 2 pairs of boom racing green silicone inserts. Says it’s good for heavy rigs with the max grappler tires. And it needs it bad. The front tires just fold under when turning. Never realized how heavy this truck was gonna be.
