My best friend(blznmuddr75) had his shed broken into the night of 6/14-15 2007. The culprits made off with a minimum of nine trucks, with radios since he has to lable them, and many other items like chargers and batteries and motors. Even though he does not contribute to this forum he has been a frequenter over the years. he has had a ESP chassis Clod converted to crawler duty with stormer 4:1 reductions for probably four years or more. His collection of Clod Busters, before the break in, was up to 11 or 12 in various configurations (crawler...tuber...racer...6X6) and chassis brands from hand fab to carbon fiber Thunder Tech. There was an RC10 and a TA02 Tamiya and a couple TLT's taken as well. The 6X6 was left behind but his tuber was taken along with a Thunder Tech or two. If and when he ever finalizes the list I will try to get it here.
The point of all this is to be VERY aware of ANYONE from our area trying to sell anything like these on ebay or here. (if these douchebags are even that smart) We live in a area 2+ hours southwest of Chicago on the Iowa-Illinois border, he in Silvis/East Moline and I in Rock Island. I don't know if this will help at all but I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrated and feeling helpless. Some of these trucks belonged to his 9 year old son and much of the suff isn't replaceable, nothing about this is right.
He can be reached through here or you can reach me as well the same way. Like I said I have no idea if this will help anything but getting the word out can't hurt.

Sorry to hear that... First thing I would do after calling the cops is Checking all the pawn shops. Was the building connected to the house in anyway? Might be able to turn it in to insurance. Doesn't hurt to check. All they can say is No..

wow that sucks ballz. i also bet that it was someone that he knows. only way they could know about the stuff i think.

Ya just gotta hate when this kinda stuff happens. Also, don't forget to check your local Craig's List ... it seems to be a good place for stolen stuff since it tends to get less publicity than the bay.

I also agree that it's someone he knows.

That sucks! Let it be a lesson to all who dont think it will happen to you! Dont be foolish and make it easy for people to take your stuff. I have had stuff taken in the past and I to agree that it will be someone he knows. Best of luck in finding the SOB. Thats allot of stuff to carry, Maybe its closer to him than he thinks

You know it is funny I am getting a lot of support to MY CLAIM that it may be someone that knows him and his stuff. He is a carpenter so there is a enclosed trailer with a ladder rack, then the 2 1/2 car garage, then the 12X12 shed, then the yard we run trucks in, then the house and finally his work van. All but the house would be prime candidates for thieves wanting to steal TOOLS but only the shed got broken into. The bet I have is it was a guy and a kid because there were two sets of footprints (boots and tennis shoes) and the window in the shed they used to gain entry is too small for anybody of size to fit through and it has a shelf running acrossed it that DID NOT get knocked down. They didn't get any of our DIAZ trucks (there were four in there) but the Clod loss is SUBSTANTIAL. Every Clod he owns(owned) had a Super Rooster and a radio of either a Futaba or TQ3. Several had Stormer 4:1 gear reductions and don't forget the tuber. Two Mountaineers were untouched but they stole the old Pro-Tech chargers not the modern stuff.
Thanks for the support, we will see if we can get some pics up.

well, i'd say you're pretty lucky that they didnt take the mountaineers, but still, them stealing the clods is bad enough! i'll keep an eye out on craigslist and e-bay!

sorry!

Well, the current tally is up to around $7500.00 and still no sign of the thieves or any trucks/ parts! The insurance company hasn't said no yet but we aren't going to hold our breath.
I told my friend I started this thread and asked him to get his list and any photos up here. We will see what he can do, he works construction so most days are long and his free time for the computer is minimal.

Man I am so sorry to hear about your loss!! The same thing happend to me, I lost two fully modded clods, All my craftsman hand tools, 2 pellet guns, about $500 in fire works, soldering iron, and Hell I am still finding stuff I didn't even know was missing till i needed it. I will tell you this, Give the insurance company links to these RC forums, Tower hobbies and so forth, I had to work real hard to get them to cover my trucks, they couldn't believe how much money it takes to build one. once I showed them they were "hobby grade" and not toys they covered them, BUT my loss was so big the wanted to drop me when they paid out, AND they would only pay me 1/2 upfront for the trucks and when I showed them the receipts for the building of a new one they sent me the balance of the cash. I went to the local hobby shops, checked the pawn shops and still to this day hope to see one of my trucks on the bay. now I keep my detached garage locked up like fort knox and my new security system just turned 7 moths old, he's part sheperd and part black lab!! this should by me the time to get the gun and teach them a little lesson on steeling should they ever try this poop again!!
