TF tuber

this is my start of my tuber using TF axles with a width from kex to hex 16". im thinking 1/2" tubing with 3/16" wall for the chassis and brace it with some 1/4" bracing around. gotta do some figuring on how much tubing ill need then find the projected weight to see if i need to use lighter material. i was thinking aluminum but i have nothing to weld that together.
any ideas will be alot of help.

update on my tuber changed the length from 40 to 35" and moved the wheel base to 20" then alloved for more compression of the axles. also i madea mockup of the 16" wide TF axles with the 8.5" swamp kongs

ill be getting the metal soon as i get paid it will be the beginning of the month. so then ill be taking alot of pics of the build. i have to wait on the tranny, motor, battery, servos untill more money come avaible as my better half limits me lol.

any thoughts on the tranny? I'm thinking you might have to double up on those savage shocks at each wheel with that weight......

for tranny i was thinking the R2 tranny at rc4wd.com. ya im going to get the weight per foot and figure the weight of the chassis alone. then i can guess pretty accurate on the total weight.

Think the R2 will hold up? Seems like some guys were chewing up gears in them with the higher power setups. Not to mention you are going to have some serious weight being thrown around!

I'm curious to see what you do. I have a hefty clod with a nylint body I've been running and planning on turning into a full tuber. I'm changing out some stuff now trying to get it to crawl better. It's a whole different game when there is a lot of weight involved!

1/2" tubing 3/16" wall ???? Holy over kill. My CJ5 is sitting on 2x4 3/16 wall tubing.

my bad i got confuzed. i just picked up my tubing and its 3/8 od with .032 wall. my 20' length that i got weighs at 2.54lbs so my weight worries are not what i was thinking. for some reason i was thinking 15 lbs for the chassis alone.

I think only an emaxx tranny with the metal gear set will hold up to a huge rig like that

Although a Maxx tranny would be a good candidate,I feel the Twin tranny to be stouter. The chain drive and 8mm outputs are bomb proof. The Twin tranny,unlike the maxx,can also be taken apart and reconfigured in allot of different shapes and sizes to fit dang near any chassis you can dream up. I've had the same Twin tranny I started with reconfigured in tube chassis,TVP chassis and a pan type chassis. Bart Bender has also come up with a couple different ways to configure the Twin tranny. Look through this section and you should find the threads.

I saw his chassis the other day, it looks good and is huge. It is also supprisingly light.
