K5 Blazer Build

yeah thats mine ric, its not just a wedge. it has centering pins and crap. the 0rate has the centering pin and it goes into the shim perpendicular to that plane of 9*. then theres the bottom of the shim with another little tit that goes into the perch. its cool dont worry. now my pinion bearing is bad or on its way because of my outtawhack shaft from DSunlimited. yay.

zero rate illeagal?? Never heard that, but if you say so.

Clodstall, the zero rate gives you the option of moving your axle forward or backwards: 0", 1", or 1.5"

There are multiple holes countersunk into the steel that allow the centering pin of the spring pack to be located where you want it when you bolt it to the zero rate, and then you put a shorter centering pin through the zero only and it sits inside the spring perch centering hole.

My truck runs a zero rate in the rear, with the axle moved 1.5" back. It also has a 2.5" shackle flip, and skyjacker 4" lift spring pack.

The front axle was moved forward 1.5" by re-drilling the centering hole on the spring perch on the D60, and in runs a 6" spring pack with 4" shackles.

I know, confusing, but it works. I won't go into what Jason and Kevin have had to do to get the doubler and crossover BTA steering all clearanced!!

gotcha now.just wondering why they call it zero rate.lol if you move it up to 1.5".that doesnt equal 0.

Zero rate refers to the affect it has on the spring pack itself. Since it is not a full leaf that adds resistence to the spring pack's ability to flex it is considered to add a zero rate of positive or negative flexability to the spring pack.

Hope that helps! "thumbsup"

I believe it's because it is physically bolted to the spring pack, just like adding or removing a leaf to increase or decrease the amount of flex(i.e. add-a-leaf), and not just a block put in between the spring pack and axle perch. The reason "lift blocks" are considered dangerous, is that they are only held in by the pressure from the u-bolts and can potentially slip. They aren't actually bolted into the spring pack and then u-bolted to the axle as the "zero rate" "add-a-leafs" are.

Ok, that makes sense. Same end effect (increasing distance between axle and spring pack), but accomplished in a different, more secure way. Sounds like a good reason to give it a different name. Plus the main idea isn't to provide lift, it's to move the axle. 8)

I'd like to put one in the rear end of my 1:1 Bronc, I could use an easy 1.5" wheelbase increase.

my truck is not far from yours. I have a add a leaf, 2inch block, 4inch shackel reversal, and a set of revolver shackels in the rear. I have 6inch lift springs, 4inch shackels, and a degree shim up front. and a 3inch body lift with bushwacker fenderflares. all that tucks 38 12.50 15 swampers nice.

The sawsall and plasma cutter are good friends with my truck!!

When your tires break into the 40's it's amazing how much sheet metal gets left on the shop floor.....

Revolvers are legal, and zero rates aren't, wtf? Yeah, that's safe...."thumbsup"

I bet my truck with a shorter wheelbase, no blocks, no zero rates, all leafs will out flex yours. :flipoff:

I mite me misinformed about the zero rate blocks. but it is illegal to stack blocks here and the cops are retards. they go by the book being so close to moab.

so jays86yak what kind of truck do you have. and by the way its the driver that makes the truck not the flex.

I thought this was just a "my truck can flex more then yours pissing match" so I figured I would join in. ;-)

Mine is just a 1970 chevy 2wd truck. Or atleast thats what the title says.
