does global warming scare you?

A better term is global climate change. All you people that wish you had more global warming because you're freezing your azz off are just not getting it. Global warming (climate change) does not mean that in a couple (or more) years its going to permanently be 80 degrees outside, it means that overall temperatures will rise. Some places may hit record lows, while others may become unbearably hot.

Do I 100% believe in global warming? NO
Do I think that the consequences of not doing anything to stop it and then
finding out that it's real when it's too late are worse than loosing billions of dollars now to convert to cleaner energy? Yes!

^ I totally agree, couldn't have said it any better myself.

I'm personally not worried about the Earth or life on Earth, both will still be here for millions of years. What I'm worried about is the existance of "Human" life on Earth. No big deal though, we will just inahabit outer space or another planet. The sad part is how govenment is so influnced by money rather than doing the right thing.

So if this so called global warming is human related then how are we raising the temperature of Mars? Its climbing at almost the exact same rate as we are according to accredited scientists. Maybe the Sun has a bit more to do with keeping us warm then the hot air coming out of Gore?

Does that mean we should crap in our back yard? No it does not. But stop saying we are the cause of it all. This "religion" is going to break the banks of countries if people don't stop believing the scare tactics.

Can't you see it, OC? We've only landed two probes on Mars, and ALREADY ruined the climate there!

It's that damn 6x6 that did it.

I believe that is mostly a regional type of change (most of those references are to the fact that the northern ice cap is shrinking) and not a global change.

Man has, no doubt, made an impact, but we are not the only reason the temperature changes on this, or any other planet. The output from the sun changes all of the time. Since it is not a rigid object, not all areas rotate at the same rate (poles rotate faster than equator). This is referred to differential rotation. It can be seen in the amount of sunspot activity. This differential rotation is caused by the entanglement of the magnetic field lines (which actually invert every 11 years). This has an effect on the output from the sun, which, as you can imagine also affects our planet. There are many different theories on the cycles of the sun, but we havent been recording data long enough to see most of the trends.

It is naive to say that man is the only reason for temperature changes on the planet.

That being said, I try to do my part to minimize pollution.

I bet you ten bucks that all the flamers in this thread either drive a Suburban or voted for Bush!

well i don't believe in global warming. i do believe we should find a better source of energy cause paying 2.99 where i am sucks. especially seein how i drive a truck (Ford F-150 4.6L V8 277,556 miles on it  ). so any way to reduce our dependency on oil and crap would do the world a little better. plus by the time the whole planet goes to hell  i am hopin to be dead so about 83 years from now."thumbsup"

So we should find something else to use because oil cost to much? 100% BS

It cost because the rich are greedy and they have the nation by it's nut sack. I don't care who's in office, fuel is gonna go up and keep going up.....PERIOD!

What if we started burning corn/soy oil? YEAH,that'll work....it's cheaper:roll: Right now:lol: If everyones burning it,the cost will go up:roll:

Should we find something else because it'll save the planet? 100% BS

Dumping oil every where, yeah,it's bad. Would dumping battery acid and all the by products from electric cars and such be good? NOPE! What about the waste from making fuel from corn/soy? Same deal, theres always a by product.

I love when people whom aren't educated in a subject talk about it. I'm guilty of it myself.

All I can say is that anything that is not naturally produced by the earth is probably going to be bad for the earth. Man made chemicals, bombs, plastics, oil, voc's etc..... If it isn't a natural product it is bad for the earth.

Wow.:?
So people are more concerned about the weather than the source of the problem.
It's the corrupt and worthless politicians, oil big shots, hidden agendas of the governments that are the main source of the problem.

It doesn't matter if everyone on the planet drives corn powered cars or rides bicycles, recycles, there WILL always global warming as long those idiots are in the White House.

I believe the climate of Earth is changing, but in school they teach that the Earth does that from time to time, so that does not scare me. I do think we put out a lot of unnessecary polution, but we never seem to go after the big factories that do that since they are in a polititians back pocket. Instead we focus on individual small impact things like trails, cars, and race tracks.

If you've got 4 kids, 2 dogs, a wife and boat to tow. Do you think a Prius would work for trips to the cabin?
Just because you see that single person driving the Suburban to work and back daily, you assume they just like a gas guzzler, and forget he/she might just have a need for such a vehicle? Quite possibly, this person can't afford a peanut car to drive to work and back, or just doesn't wish to drive a peanut car. This is America after all, freedom of choice.
Everything is Bush's fault :flipoff:

As long as were making assumptions here, I'll go ahead and make One of my own.
Bet you 10 bucks that everyone whining about global warming in this thread, is a limp wristed, pantie waste whinier liberal, who debates with "thoughts/feelings" and not facts. (Think Michael Moore)

Isn't this kinda like the "ice age" that everyone lived through in the 70's? Gore is just an ass trying to keep a job for himself. Imo I think that's all a lot of the government is, job security specialists. I honestly wonder sometimes about our government, you would think that if they really wanted to "clean up the earth" we would have hydrogen powered cars a long time ago, it makes me wonder how much corporate america really controls america. Not to preach or anything but I don't think any of this crap is in our hands, I think there's a bigger man controlling what happens down here. I think its basically just the cycle of the earth, the more snow that melts, the more water, the more water there is the cooler the temps will get. What do ya bet we have an ice age in 10 years?

What a bunch of....

I just wanna have fun and let some other people have the same...but some of these guys have to ruin it for everyone else, especially the newbies.
