Man, watching that video almost makes me sick. Now any Joe Blow can walk into a Walmart and leave with a capable crawler, and for only $150! From the looks of it on the video looks like it's about as cabable as a well built TLT based crawler, though that's partially due to it's larger size. I'd be tempted to get one but I already have three 1/10 crowding what little shelf space I have, and that 1/6 Jeep is just huge! I like that it has decent speed in the high range, might be fun as a trail rig as well.

Man, I was afraid what would happen to this segment of the hobby if a big hobby R/C brand started manufacturing rock crawlers, but it appears I should have been looking out for the toy industry! Now people with no R/C experience whatsoever can pick up a capable crawler with their groceries. I wonder what this may do to the creativity of the R/C crawler hobby that I love so much?

You've got the Pirate 4x4 of RC crowd here on RC Crawler going nuts over these rigs...It's not a bad thing. :lol:

Just watch. These little Wally Crawlers are going to help the RC part of the hobby gain momentum.

Sure, there will be more inexperienced newbies but that's only because this crawler is reaching a much larger audience than what the TXT, Clod, and so on have been able to do.

I read somewhere that Wal-Mart surpassed Toy R Us in toy sales.

Sounds like a bunch of people are going to get bit by the crawling bug soon.

Actually, I hate to admit that I might be tempted enough to walk into Wal-Mart and shell out $150. There. I said it. It's ugly, and looks cheaply made, but apparently it's pretty capable and fun. A little Krylon Fusion, some new radio gear and a little chassis hacking and it'll be golden ;-)

Seems like everyone's jumping off the proverbial bridge...

first i need to figure out what gearing, brushless motor, and voltage will pull me around best at a slow speed. then we get into heat issues.

i know castle creations has used airplane controllers to make brushless bikes. they used gobs of nimh cells. the boat controller is the same with reverse controls. i have a 125 amp barracuda on the way that will be used for a few projects, one being a brushless kids bike. i cant decide if i want to power a 12 inch bike and kill myself, or a 16 inch bike and still have a tiny bike.

i bet one of those huge outrunner airplane motors would work magic in a LARGE scale cralwer. how many horses should i get?

I still can't believe my video has seen so much traffic. If I'd known this many people were going to watch it, I'd have made it alot better. In my opinion its the worst video I've made. None of the music is synced with the action and the shots aren't that good.

I'll be making a video soon of my TLT vs. the 1:18 to do a little comparison. At this point I'm a little afraid. :lol:

oops i broke it.

i busted my 1/6 nylint jeep today. i shifted it to high and nothing happened. so i shifted it back to low and the front tires went into low but the back tires stayed in high. it really sucked trying to crawl with it like that. so off to wallys to trade her in. i wont be shifting this one out of low gear! now in another 18hours Bevis & Butthead will be crawlin again.

These are 2 totally different segments of the R/C community with the only common facts being that they are an R/C Crawler.
I was going to drop the cash on a TLT/TXT whatever with the cash from this AK47 sale but instead I found this at Wally World while getting an oil change :lol:
The cash i would have dropped on a base truck pluss EVERYTHING else i would need to make a crawler i would at least be happy with is CRAZY compared to this plastic bugger.

And just like with the Rubicon: If you wanted to compete with half the other crawlers on the rocks you will have to either throw some cash at it or lean to build.

The cash i saved getting back into the R/C truck world with this truck will get thrown at my BIG Jeep.
And I have no fear of attacking this one with the dremel :twisted:

After alot of thought I decided to go shafty with my 1:6th scale.
I've got all the emaxx parts laying around. As far as the spec class goes, I could always buy another. The revo shafts give it a perfect wheel base and I will get the ground clearence I've been *****ing about.

cool your should talk to nylint/funrise and convince them to try to sell there rock crawlers at the real poupler hobby sites and stores ( towerhobbies rcmart and ect.) it wood be alot easy to buy them if they do not have them at the walmart in your town :mrgreen:
