1.9 Barrage RTR 1/10 Crawler

Yeah clearance issue with the rc4wd r2 trans, its almost as wide as the outside of the frame. I thought about notching the frame so it can slide down in between the rails the motor sits close to the frame. If I get the right angle of it all to get good angles and keep cog low would be nice.
 
How much would you have to notch? If this bracket represents the frame [ Do you just have to clearence the horizontal portions of the channel? I think you could get away with that if you could reenforce it on the outside channel of the frame afterward.
 
The trans has mount holes on three sides of it. So if I use some on the sides it would be like a boxed crossmember with a motor sticking out of it. Lol

Cool. That being the case, it could act as part of the structure of the frame/chassis. "thumbsup"
 
Added a bit of scale, functional bling to the rig. RC4WD tow shackles mounted to the stubbed rear bumper. I've also been hacking and cutting on the Barrage body, but i'm just not digging it. I'll get it to the point where I can use it as a thrasher, but the proportions just look all wrong on this wheelbase. So, since i've always wanted one in 1:1, I ordered a Proline '73 Bronco body to top this rig. WB should be spot on where it sits now.

Made some outriggers and got them mounted up to the chassis. Now, I've got some good attachment points for rock sliders. I also radius'd / contoured the bottoms to follow the line of the frame so they're not extending below and hanging up on rocks."thumbsup"

Trying to decide if i'm gonna fabricate some sliders or just buy some. Not sure yet. I did have to order a new trans housing unfortunately. The plastic in the old one is just too stripped out to catch thread. I even tried to go a bit oversize with the screws. Oh well. That's why I hate plastic on rigs. Went with an HR aluminum housing.

Also had a set of Beef Patties laying around from the old AX10. Figured I'd throw those on to help keep that front end planted."thumbsup"

She's officially running and under her own power. Got the trans assembled last night and chucked the motor in this morning. Threw a pack in her to check everything out. Couldn't get too crazy without a body and we still have a good bit of snow. But, so far so good. I will say this is the tightest turning crawler I own. (also the lightest at 4lb 13oz with battery) I took her over some rocks I have in the front landscape and suspension is working well. The dravtechs are definitely plush. Should have the body this week so I can get it trimmed, painted and mounted. Hopefully all the snow is melted by then and I can get a true shakedown run in. The HH 30T Torquemaster moves this little rig pretty well too with good wheelspeed. That said, the maniac in me is going to space the trans off the skid and chuck the 12T Titan 550 in just for :lmao: and to see what she'll do!

Sooooooooooooooo......this happened today. I had all the take-off drivetrain from the 1.9 Barrage RTR from my BarrAxial build. Never one to let good parts go to waste, I went to work fitting them to a Losi MRC chassis I had laying around.

I had to drill new holes in the Losi MRC skid to accept the Barrage trans. It was weird, they were the exact same pattern, but the inset holes for the MRC were just a bit further from the outters than the Barrage.

Once I got the trans mounted, I cut down the drive shafts, removed the bump stops on the shocks, and drilled new holes in the chassis for the upper links. I also had to cut a cross member out on the side of the MRC chassis for the Barrage trans because it stuck out a bit. Even better, with the front axle so far forward and away from the chassis, I can easily chuck a full size servo in this bad boy. Just check out the flex on this sucker now! Should be a fun little play rig!"thumbsup"

That little Losi Crawler is pretty cool in its own right!
Your main project doesn't look ANYTHING like a Barrage anymore, but DAMN, it looks SWEET!! "thumbsup" "thumbsup" I've apparently missed quite a bit... I THOUGHT I was subscribed to this Thread. Just fixed that!

You're giving me ideas.... I want to find some cheap Crawler basket case. I may have enough parts laying around, to make some sort of fun toy out of!!
..... Something to even roll over things Inside, when I'm not able to go outside.
 
Yeah Carmine, the Barraxial took on a life of its own. The little motor and the inboard shocks on the RTR just weren't cutting it for me. But, with "Frankensteining" it, I ended up with a whole drivetrain, links, shocks for the MRC chassis, so it was a 2 for 1 deal!

Plus, the little Barraxial seems to be functioning really well so far. I got out for a little bit more testing in the yard today. Tried some firm springs up front, but went back to the mediums. The suspension just seems dialed already. That, and like I mentioned earlier, I'm amazed at how tight this thing can cut a turn, and it's the lightest crawler I own now. The '73 Bronco body will be the icing on the cake!"thumbsup"

Broncos and Truggies - and I've NEVER owned either!! :cry: :cry: Could not tell you why.

I really like the idea of a dirt cheap, junkyard Crawler!! Maybe I can find someone who wants to part with an Everest 10, HSP, or some other No-Name, knock-off of the AX-10.... Basket case or better.... I may have enough stuff around here to make something out of it!
 
Got the Bronco body today for the BarrAxial. Need to do the trimming and fitment, then start painting. Still trying to decide on color. I've got some spray cans laying around from previous bodies though, so it'll be whatever I have the most of.

I did get the little MRC up and running with all of the Barrage's old drivetrain. Little sucker is sick with a small, 1200mah 3s flight pack. It straight up wheelies on pavement. Not sure how long that little motor will last on 3s, but I've found them on Fleabay for like $8 so no biggie. I'm considering throwing a Proline Sumo body on it since the wheelbase and width are perfect for it. Definitely more scale than the Losi MRC body too.

1st pic - It's tight packaging, but I got everything to fit. Ended up using an Axial AE-2 ESC I had. (I may swap this ESC in to the BarrAxial and put the Barrage ESC in the MRC. Not sure yet.

2nd pic - Shows where I had to cut away the chassis to allow the Barrage trans to poke through the frame.

3rd pic - Just an overall shot of the little MRC with the extended wheelbase courtesy of the Barrage parts/drivetrain.

Mike - now you've REALLY made me want to TRY to acquire some AX10 clone, and almost copy yours!!! :) That little Rig looks like too much fun!
I've got a small-ish 53 F100 Body, that doesn't fit anything I have, trimmed and painted, that might just work on something like that.

Also........ Pro-Line brought back the SCOUT!!!??? :shock: :)
It's WAY too expensive for me, but Damn, that looks GOOD! Looks like what will go on my Deadbolt, when I can finally afford that one. :)

I've been looking for a used barrage locally, wouldn't mind to find a doomsday without a body lol. Get the scout body and run the set of treps I have would be a nice trail truck.
