$1000 iphone X announced

I have the Note 4. Samsung products are great if you don't care about running the latest version of Android. Chances are you're never going to get it.

I have had nothing but good experiences with my notes and s(whatever)edge plus. Except breaking the glass, completely my fault.

My main focus in a phone is phone performance LOL. And to be honest, in my experience the more crap you cram into one device, the worse it gets at it's intended original function. My old Nokia candy bar phone from the early 2000's would stomp the shit outta anything made today on phone performance alone. But, no internet, no video games, etc. It was a phone, and that's it.
Amen! Back in the day my Qualcomm candybar phone never dropped a call. Then things went digital and it sucks.

My parents (mostly my step-mom) are Apple junkies. She's gotta have the latest and greatest; my dad gets the hand-me-down last generation, and always complains about features or things his iPhone 4/5/6 does/did. And with every complaint, I happily remind him that my Galaxy S7 (previously S5) did it better or simply already had the feature he wanted. So far, I haven't encountered anything that the iPhone did better than my Galaxy's. (Maybe the camera, the S5 camera sucked.)

In fact, I've had more problems keeping tempered glass screen protectors together than with the actual phone. I just got a new screen protector last week and the corner of it magically cracked three days later. Didn't drop it or anything. And there are already fairly large chips in two spots on the screen. So far, the phone has been either in my pocket or in my hand, so I have no idea what happened. At last Zagg has lifetime replacement... We'll see how that goes.

That's one thing I've always hated about Apple. They steal ideas, give them a stupid iName, and call them "new", "revolutionary", "amazing" or some other adjective.

They are just now getting wireless charging. And the one wireless charger will only be available next year. Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave.

I tried to use dad's iPhone's Map app back in July for Axialfest, and almost threw his phone out of the car somewhere just outside of Modesto... WHY IS THERE NO BACK BUTTON??!! It's so frustrating: "Oops I went one page too far, lets just go all the way back to the home screen and then work through the app to a single page back from where I was two minutes ago." How intuitive...

Also, wireless earbuds and no headphone jack on the iPhone 7. Just HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That's so stupid!!!

I don't think most people fully appreciate Apple products until you adopt the full ecosystem. Alone the iPhone X will be on par with the Note 8 and S8/9 if not slightly better on technical specs but that's not the end of the story. The iPhone X will have a much better camera system than any Samsung which is a huge deal for me as I use my phone to take pictures that ultimately get used to advertise for my business daily and on the go. I need the best camera phone available. But back to my point about the ecosystem. When you have an Apple computer (Macbook Air and iMac in my case), iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and Apple Watch all working as one it's a ridiculously efficient and seamless system. Everything just works and works all the time. Information/files pass between all devices seamlessly either via iCloud or AirDrop with little to no effort. If you get a text or phone call you can answer/respond on any device without having to grab your phone specifically which sounds gimmicky but is super handy. I'll answer phone calls on my MacBook daily without having to take my iPhone out my pocket. Same with text messages. The Apple ecosystem boosts productivity and reduces transitional device distractions. Clearly I like Apple products and use all of them. That's my take on Apple, but maybe I'm just crazy... I'll be ordering my iPhone X to replace my one year old iPhone 7 Plus on launch day.

Apple Maps is pretty rough. It's the only Apple app I actually dislike. To go back on iOS you just swipe from the left. Took me a bit to get used to it when I was transitioning from the Android world but now it makes way more sense than a button.

I've had zero instances where I missed the standard headphone jack on my iPhone 7. I bought $20 wireless headphones which work great or I use the included earbuds that plug into the lightening port.

I agree the lack of a physical back button drives me nuts. There is one on the screen though. But I prefer physical buttons. Ones with tactile feedback are even better. I think the X not having any buttons is stupid. And you can only unlock it with your face? Is that true? Facial recognition is not where it needs to be. I don't want to have to look at my phone multiple times and then stare at it to unlock it.

I don't care what anybody says. Touchscreens are NOT intuitive. Not at all.

I've always called iOS "Android for Dummies". It's dumbed down a lot. Too much for my liking.

I don't care about the headphone jack. I don't use it.

I've heard that. I don't like getting tied into any scam err I mean ecosphere from one company.

I will agree nobody does photos like Apple. Photo quality has become my main concern for my phone and that's the only reason I'm looking at Apple.

I totally understand the whole "ecosystem" thing. I've managed to cobble together something like that with Google drive and Imgur (previously Photobucket) and it works well enough, but the computer is the crunch point for me. As far as I know, Solidworks and AutoCad will only work (or simply work the best) on a Windows system, and those two programs are pretty important for me as an engineering major...

Yeah there is some software that only comes on OSX or Windows and that's always super annoying. You can dual boot a Mac to run Windows with BootCamp pretty easily. I used to do that but at the moment the only software I run that is Windows exclusively is f'n Castle Link.... lol. I bought $100 Windows10 Netbook just program ESCs and BECs.

Which Netbook and how does it work? I almost bought a cheapo for the same reason.

Right its great! Make an appointment reminder on your tablet- bam its on the phone. Take a pic with the phone and its on the tablet too.

The "planned obsolescence" accusation really annoys me when they point fingers at apple. Apple users know better. My 5 is 5 years old and I want for nothing... replaced the battery once... don't know anyone who has ANY kind of smart phone that is still working (almost) flawlessly 5 years later; my power button died, but I can use the software to do that- fortunate thing is I never have to... it never freezes / locks up.

Planned obsolescence isn't an Apple invention. Are they trying to take credit for that too? :lmao:

Any and all of my Android phones still work flawlessly. 5 years is not an accomplishment.

I can't tell you how many iPhone people I've known that couldn't update because the didn't have enough space. On Android it was so nice to have the SD card, but now they're doing away with that. It's sadly becoming pretty typical of Google to kill off the good things.

I have a 4s with original Battery that still works flawlessly that has never had any parts replaced. I stopped updating IOS a long time back though because it just worked... I only replaced it recently because I could not put a Safeway app on it because I was running an old OS version. But it is jailbroken and modded with several mods I do not wish to lose and is still quite speedy so.. :)

I replaced it with a Galaxy s7 because.. why nott and I wanted to try out an android phone. I am liking it much better, it is so much less annoying to put files onto :p
