how mch run time shold i get from 1500 mah nimh battery.i am running a rooster and a 55 turn with a 19t pinion.i am only getting 20 min max.is ti because th 19 t pinion?thanks patrick

what size cell is your battery? how are you driving it? becuz if youre always gunning it then thats why, and it depends on your pinion , if you feel its still going to fast becuz if it is then you should go down, another thing is how far are you driving it? OK with my setup im running a 8 cell 1500mah battery at 2/3 size cells with a 14t pinion and a 45 turn motor and im getting around an hour to thirty minutes

its your 19t pinion....slow that beast down to max a 15t and you will get more run time and TONS more torque...

i thought the pinion was going to be the issue.i will drop down and try that.i just like haveing a little go if i can't crawl it i will motor over it.thanks for the input.and it is a 7 cell split pack.

Try using the stock gearing and go with 8 cell packs. I use the same cells in a 8 cell pack and get a lot of wheel speed but long run times as well. I know the Rooster Crawl says up to 7 cells, but I have been running 8 cells for almost a year now.

I get 1 hour 20 min with 10 cell 2/3 saddle pack and a 55t novak-

My son smoked a 10 cell 2/3 pack with a 7t puller from Holmes Hobbies about 50 min.

My son's truck get about 1 hour with a 1300ah 3 cell lipo (Xcaliber) with a 7t puller.

How old is your pack? What amperage are you charging at?

Matt

I run 6-cell 2/3 'C' 1500mah split packs, with a 14T pinion I got about 35-40 mins, I've put an 18T pinoin on and now I am getting about 25 mins out of the packs. I don't really mind the decrease in run time, I have a 65T motor that was painfully slow with the 14T pinion, now I can actually generate some wheel speed.

I run 7 cell split pack and I get about 30 minutes depending on how heavy my trigger finger is. I am also running a dig

I use 7 cell 2/3a saddle packs 1500mAh with an Integy 55T lathe motor and 20T pinion and get an honest hours run time on the rocks.. it's all very slow crawling and precision driving no *racing* or anything.. Still plenty of torque and slow speed control with a little burst of speed when I need it.

Where is a good source for 2/3 C or Sub C batteries :?:

thanks

Got my packs from Cheapbatterypacks.com. You can custom order them with the type of wire, cells and connectors you want.

General Rules of Thumb

- More voltage = more speed but less runtime.
- More cells = more voltage
- Almost all 2/3 A cells are 1500 mah.
- No matter how many 2/3 A cells you use (voltage) the pack is still 1500 mah.
- Lower turn motor (handwound) = more speed and torque than a higher turn machne wound.
- Quality "faster" motors do not drain a battery as bad as a bigger pinion.

If someone is getting an hour out of 2/3A caells.... they drive like my grandma "thumbsup"

good to know!
I think I'll be looking into some higher quality motors for my MOA then. The Venom 50t are kinda weak.
I am running Lipos in my axial but low mah so my run times are like low, 20 to 40 mins on average (depends on my mood) with 1300mah 2 cell, and 45t integy cheapo motor w/18t pinion and stock spur.
