My gt3c eats a lot of battery. They come with a 800mah 3.7v lipo battery but goes fast. Thought in putting a 18650 battery. They are affordable and seem to do the trick. Got a 5000mah.

The problem is that the original battery has 2 contacts that go against 4 contacts on the radio and from there, 3 wires go to the board

I've connected + and - on the corresponding places in the battery. Turned on the radio, the screen didn't lighted up and smoke came out from the board. Fortunately, the radio still works with the original battery.

What I've did wrong?

No idea on using the 18650 cell but the 1700mah battery (part # FS-B1700) from the Flysky IT4S is a direct fit for the GT3C, lasts way longer, and there is a near zero chance of screwing up your radio when installing it.

its old ive had it for 5 years and i got it used and im still using the battery it came with
