Ok so I just had my goat smoke on me...

So of course the first thing I did was make sure there were no battery shorts and there wasn't.

So its getting sent in for repair and being a big kid I went and grabbed another one.

But I am really worried that it smoked due to me..

For the battery packs I am running a 7 cell 2/3a 1500mAh packs. I went and threw a pack on the charger--let it fully charge and then cool down. I went and checked the voltage---

It shows 10.23 volts

How is this possable becuase aren't these 1.2v cells (elite NiMh)?

I am also using a Piranha charger....

I just wanna make sure I don't skoke another one....

1.2 is the nominal, or average, voltage. Voltage will range from 1.5 fully charged to .9 when run out.

I've found the Goat isn't real happy with 2/3A cells. It seems to like sub-C's better, more punch at startup. I doubt this is related to your smoking the speedo. I run mine on 6x sub-C's and get all the wheelspeed I could want. I can't imagine why you'd need 7 cells with a Goat.

when my 2/3 cells are done charging (1500 elites) there near that voltage. I too have a Goat and have about 10 7 cell packs through the system with no troubles. I also have some 6 cell 2/3 packs. I mainly comp with my 7 cells to get a bit more weight up front. The Brushless is so versatile with low tourque and wheel speed, a 7 cell is not really neccasary, but I have not had any problems

Hey microgoat, i have only ran one of my goat sytems on my hl with a 6 cell 4.4 maxamps pack, i have 2 more nib systems i was going to use on a super i am building, but i decided i would go brushed on the super and build a couple 2.2 rigs with the goats, i have a couple 8 cell and 6 cell 2/3a packs for these builds, would you advice against using these batts on this particular system, i know the goats are rated to 7 cells max, but being that the packs i might use are 2/3 ,maybe bump it to 8 cells?

It's rated for 7 cells, and lots of folks run them that way without problems. Just don't let the smoke out on the next one, and you'll be fine! :)

The 2/3a cells are rated at the same voltage as a sub-c. You could try it, and you might not destroy it. I wouldn't though, and it'll probably void your warranty.
