2014 Kawasaki kx250f...?

Also, with proper maintenance newer 4 stroke mx bikes are very reliable. I can't tell you how long top/bottom end will last, that's all due to maintenance and riding style. I normally freshen mine up in the winter (northern Indiana weather) I pull the top end off to check crank, and at that point it's silly not to spend $150 on piston and rings.

KTM prices in India :|

KTM 990 Adventure = US $26670

KTM 990 SMR =US $26670 (expected)

KTM with our government is out of their mind:x and those prices are insane considering the purchasing power of our currency.

Other dirt bikes by Honda,Yamaha etc are not even launched. If I have to import one, I would have to pay customs near 130% over the MSRP + transport.

I personally would love to buy a YZ250F;-)

& one more thing, the YZ250 four stroke sounds way better than the 2 stroke. I see them at a local dirt bike race held every year. The 2 stroke engines feel like someones pricking ears.

Unfortunately for me even a second hand bike is considered as a new bike by Indian customs and they charge import duty on the current MSRP of the bike. They are out of their mind and have kept a lot of bike lovers hungry for years.

The new KTM's is what I'm avoiding, they have great power and brakes..very good bikes but their only satisified at high rpm and constant throttle which I'm not that crazy to haveing it nearly pinned. I think the KTM is a bad beginner bike, it doesn't have much low end torque vs a yz250f or even a wr250f.

This has not been my experience. I can lug my KTM down much lower than the YZF. I can tractor up the hills in 2nd with no problems. I mentioned the EFI tuner which really lets you set where the meat of the power band hits and this would work with the YZF also since it has EFI now. I have mine set to hit lower than stock so I really don't have to be on the pipe hard to get into the power. All that being said, the YZF is a really great beginner platform since it is so bulletproof and they'er easy to get serviced.

Well I was talking about the 2015 KTM 250sxf..or whatever the hell the name is. I read the magazine and the bike place in fourth place..but then again I'm not saying KTM's are bad..they seem to be great bikes but just aren't for me.

1st dirt bike = used.
I wouldn't worry about the lower hp of the Honda at this point.

Yeah I thought about a used one before but then again, what if the seller is lying and you have no idea what has been to it. Unless he has actual proof then it's knda tough buying a used bike. I would get a honda but from what I've seen aren't as reliable since they need valves a lot. At first I thought the kx250f was tougher but actually the yz250f is more.

Yeah I'll just stick to the yz250f..those prices are insane!

Well I guess that's not to much of a difference with me, I'm almost the same as you with weight and height. (well an inch difference and 8 pounds).

I'll be putting a FMF Factory 4.1 RCT anodized system w/ carbon end cap on my bike and also, Acerbis Rally Pro x-strong handguards. Later on I'll also put a decent skid plate on the bike. Did you weight your flywheel?

If I do that then it'll be easier to drive on the trails.

Well I'll be getting the yz250f next month, do you guys want me to upload pics to this thread or make a new one? lol just let me know. That FMF pipe is gonna make it a beast..especially since it has fuel injection.

i run moose bark busters with roost guards on pro taper bars and like them a lot. i do not weight my flywheel and that is the only thing i might change is to go to the wr flywheel/magneto setup so i will have the capability to charge my trail tech gps while riding. i had a fmf 4.1 on my bike and the muffler broke at the mount and where the inlet of the muffler is, so i bought a cheap lexx mx pipe with spark screen and am happy with that setup. for a skid plate i prefer moose or devol.

Sounds cool!"thumbsup" I might change the flywheel later on but I'll see how she performs first. For the skid, I'm getting the
T.M. designworks full coverage plastic skid plate
the reason why is because it's lighter than steel and suprisingly tough.
Did the bike sound "cool" with that FMF on it? I think it'll sound really gnarly8)

it did sound good with the fmf on it. i rum aluminum skids with foam between skid and frame for noise cancelation and to keep mud out

Ohh okay, well I'll be putting that FMF on it for sure. I watched several videos on the 2014 yz250f and man can that thing move! I saw several guys wipe out and others ride it good, hopefully I don't wip out lol.

The yz250f is pure beast, especially with adding a FMF and a megabomb..should increase horsepower to but I'm not geting the FMF for power increase, I'm just getting it for the sound.

On the other hand, I am thinking about trading in my 2013 Polaris sportsman 500 for the all new and insane balls-to-the-walls 2015 Polaris sportsman 1000 XP EFI, hahahaha I think i'm going to! Call me crazy but that bitch pumps out 88 horse power! I'd love the yz250f but then again, take a look at that 1000 and tell me if it's not cooler, you know lol. It will take me some time to get this quad..maybe in march of 2015 but then again...it's just a bad ass bike. It sounds like a race car..stock. I wonder how much I can get for my 2013 polaris, it only has 48 hours on it. (And no, I'm not selling it anywhere else besides a dealer, so don't worry).
