2015 scale rules discussion or question thead

WarPig beat me too it!"thumbsup"

Build that rig man - Just put a windshield on the tube work. I love mogs.....

Already working on it "thumbsup" currently 3d printing the body: Noll11's 'Mog - yep, another 3d-printed project! : Scale Crawlers - Page 2

-----
To clarify, the first pic with the windshield on and the tube for the rest of that cab Is what I mean; second is just to show what the tube looks like - it would always have the windshield on.

if that's still not Ok, no big deal, I can build my MAz537 to be c1 legal and run the mog as a C2 :)

EDIT: just noticed that the windscreen in the pics I posted is actually the stock one ( http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4f/Unimog_404-serial_number_4.jpg ) - that should be legal then, correct? (I'm doing a 1300l, not a 404, so the style will be different, but same principle).

If a driver is acquiring points rapidly then the judge would probably warn him and stop time to add the points up. It's not going to happen too often but a decent judge will know when the points are getting close to 80.

That's also part of the problem. Alot of judges at big events are judging for the first time.

If it is an issue at an event, a score card with 80 circles could be utilized. Mark off the appropriate number of circles for the penalty incurred.... when you have no more circles left, you are done.

There is always a solution"thumbsup"

Its [winch rule] there same as last year?
Yes, it's missing there also.
...
Course Direction: +10 points
Winch: +3 points
Assisted Recovery: +10 points
...

Vehicle Touch:
(+10 pts) All vehicle touches excluding “rollovers”, "winching", "assisted recoveries" (see associated rules), ...
* Winching is described as something else than "assisted recovery", with an associated separate rule for it.
* All the other point penalties listed have their own clarifying "rule" paragraph.

For the purpose of clarity as well as consistency with the rest of the rules winching should therefore also have a separate paragraph in the rules.
At the very least something like:
Winch: Clarified within the Assisted Recovery rule.

To clarify as I'm going reading this and/or making suggestions, have the 2015 rules been written/amended or is this thread to establish what changes to make for this season? I ask because I am building now for spring and want to know if last years rules apply or hold off to see if there are any advantages to be had after this years rules are posted

Ahhh your saying we need to add something not that something is missing from last years wording.

I will add yours and Johnnyh66s requests to the docket for next year.
Thanks guys.

You are quoting from the 2013 rule set that say "winch -3", 2014 and current 2015 use the verbiage "self recovery -3". Make sure your looking at the correct set before suggesting changes.;-)

For someone that doesn't do the scale scene, you sure have a lot to say about it. Feels like your just coming in here to stir up crap, hope I'm wrong.

I just wanted to say thank you to the committee members. I can't imagine the amount of time you guys put into discussing the nitty gritty of every aspect of each rule. Trying your best to word it so HW000 can't read around it, keeping it fair and simple, and trying to please everyone. You guys do a great job every year. On top of that you have the patience to listen to the masses criticizing what you've worked so hard to archive without getting upset! Looking forward to seeing you all at nationals!

^amen to that!

----------

just wanted to make sure my question hadn't got lost in the shuffle - From doublej's response, I believe that it'd be legal so long as it still has a windshield, correct? (like the 1st pic, not the 2nd). just wanted to clarify :)

Here's a new question! With the new 2 front steering axles, do you get points for 2 cms like the class 3?

No, only one for the front and one for RS if it is used. Basically Multi axle vehicles must fit all other rules for what ever class they are built for.

2016 suggestions:
Class 3 split into 2 classes (yes, yes... I know)
Modified tires allowed in Class 2

Modified tires are allowed in class 2, you can do anything you want other than cut n shut. I personally don't think any of the decent class 2 tires out there really need much help.

I liked your post you donkey except the hw000 part:mrgreen: notice the endearing term I used ? Verbage is important"thumbsup". You hit it on the head, these guys do a heck of a good job at coming up with a fairly simple, easy to understand and well written set of rules.
