I just got my winch in and wanted to install it tonight. I was wondering what the best route is to go with this. Should I use the Two plug method if so how would I go about doing this. Or should I just use the one plug. If really like to only use one battery. But I suppose I could use a small nimh hump pack for this one. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I clipped the battery connector off and soldered those wires inline with the ESC power wires. plug in battery, good to go.

Are you using a lipo? If so, how many cells?

It's a 2s so it's good. But i have a tf40 tx on this one and when I plug the winch in it just spools by its self I think I have it hooked up wrong or sonething. Is this right?http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/09/

I cut the tamiya connector off and soldered like that. I see what the problem is now that I thought about it. It's constantly getting power but how am I supposed to correct this?

My favorite mod to run the 3R winch is use a second ESC as the winch controller.

I run a 3S lipo to mine. The motor takes it like a champ. The two main reasons why I use an ESC for this purpose;

One, I use a MT4 radio. The lever is my winch control. I have a variable speed line rate.

Two, when I do not need my winch, I turn the ESC off and never have to worry about line creep.

There are several great ways to wire your winch up. This is what works best for me. Remember when winching, use the Official Land Anchor of the RECON G6, the Pul Pall RW60. Don't get stuck without one! "thumbsup"

Fixed the link for you

Are you using the winch controller that came with it?

It works fine on channel 1 or 2 but if you put it on channel3 the winch just spools with me pressing anything. I don't understand this. Has anyone else had this problem or is it just me?

Is the trim on 3 set correctly? I had the issue at first as well. My radio, the DX3R, 3rd channel had to be switched in the programming to 3way position and then my trim was off. Once centered it works fine. But yes mine is wired as in the pic above

Mine is a push button 3 channel on the tf-40. I think it's my radio being a push button. Does anyone know I good reliable SIMPLE 3 channel 3 position radio so I can use this damn winch?

To me it still just sounds like the settings on your third channel. I don't know your radio, at all, but find someone that does, and get it worked out.
unless you really really want a new radio...
Like I mentioned, the DX3R has 2pos, 3pos, and others available for each channel, yours is probably just set in one of the others.

Yeah it's only a 2 pos I think that's why.
