Hey, guys - I'm finally getting around to setting up my MRC w/ 4WS, but I was hoping someone could chime in on how to setup the Tx. I searched the threads, but could not find the info I needed, so please forgive me if I have looked over it.

As of now, I have all the hardware, along w/ a Spektrum DX3.0 Tx - what do I need to do to make 4WS work, aside from the build itself? If someone can give me some info, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!

God bless - "Rare"

i doubt anyone on here has converted to 4ws because its not comp legal. that being said all you need is a front axle setup, a servo, a 3ch receiver, and a 3ch radio which i think you have. should be pretty cool experiment though, you should make some videos of that thing crawlin.

There are a few. I've considered it since mine's not comp legal anyway at its width and the widners take away some steering. All you actually need are knuckles and C's to make a steering axle out of the rear, the rear has dogbones just like the front.

Setting up the electronic end would depend on how you'd like to control the rear servo, if you want rear steer all the time all you need is a y-harness so both servos run off the same channel, if you want independent you'd have to find the manual on your radio and set the 3rd channel up to control it.

steering

use the nomadio react. it has a setting for 4 wheel steering. you can have just front steering or all 4 or you can make it crab

TK - thanks so much for the info! I have all the hardware (mechanics/parts you described, plus servo & so forth), but I remember reading that a "Y-Harness" would not work - both wheels would turn the same way, causing the vehicle to "crab." If this is not the case, great - "Y-Harness" is very easy, but if not, using the 3rd channel on my DX3.0 will work as well - just need to know if I have to setup some special mixing that I'm not aware of. If anyone knows, I would appreciate it. Thanks! :)

I don't know how different the DX3 is from my DX3S but mine is mixed with f/r enabled with -100% left and right and 0% left and right (front steering only).

You I thought you used to be able to get y-harnesses that had the polarity on one plug reversed to combat that, guess not anymore. You can swap pins around in one plug or cut and swap the power wires on one pin to make the servos turn different directions.

No point in 4ws if u cant turn them separately. I got a spektrum DX5 for $99 w/ a 5 channel receiver. Plug it in and u got independent steering. Can out wheel my buddies hands down. Yea, not comp legal but its more fun, and u can do harder lines. After you by the axle parts of course

Not sure on the radio, however I do know you dont need the entire front axle setup, all you need for the steering setup axle wise is

Losi part numbers

LOSB1409 X2
Front spindles & carriers w/hardware. Or comparable alum. part

LOSB1430 X6
Bearing 4.8.3mm (axle bearings) (you already have these, they are in the rear axle setup)

LOSB1407 X2
Axles (stub shaft, comes in set of 2)

LOSB1421 X1 (you already have this)
Servo Plates & mounts. Or comparable alum. part

LOSB1422 X1
Servo Saver & Arm set. Or comparable alum. part

LOSB1410 X1
Steering Links (long & short)

LOSB1419 X2
Complete Screw Kit. Or comparable screws for steering linkage

I'm also dealing with a similar situation. I have a y harness installed in my cr-01 with two servos using a dx3.0 and all i get are two servos that turn the same direction. I reversed the plug on the rear and then i lose steering period. I think the third channel is pretty useless on the 3.0 or maybe i just don't understand the proper setup for what i'm trying for. Please help if you can.

If you want full time rear steer just get a servo-reversing Y-harness. I got one from my hobby shop for 7 or 8 bucks just a couple months ago. But your esc might not have enough power for 2 servos at one time like mine didn't. I had to get a BEC(battery eliminator circuit) to help get around the low power issue. Mine would twitch and glitch really bad till I got a bec on it.

I have the harness already and it works but makes the steering the same instead of opposite and when i tried reversing the plug it didn't even respond. I got what i wanted though, wound up turning the servo horn up instead of pointing down. Thanks.

No there is a "servo reversing y harness". It it different than a regular y harness. A regular y harness is NOT reversible at all to my knowledge. Here is what im talkin about http://cgi.ebay.com/RC-Airplane-Cra...|66:4|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:200
