A couple pics of my sled....

64 Galaxie 500XL inherited from my late Dad. Miss ya and love ya Dad!"thumbsup" he bought it probably 30-31 years ago in New Mexico. Had something crazy like 9,000 original miles when he bought it. He put it away in the back of his garage and covered it over thinking it's value was going to be huge in 10 years. 10 years went by and it was STILL just a
Galaxie:lmao:
Another 10 went by:lmao::lmao:
Etc... Etc... Etc.... Late in 2003 he finally gave up on the fact it was not going to be a lump of coal that turned itself in to a diamond:ror: he pulled it out, quickly freshened the little 289 up and gave it a quick squirt of paint. He drove it around some that Summer and at least got to enjoy it a little. He not too long after took sick and had a rough few years driving it only on the rare occasion when he felt up to it. He managed to roll the clock up to a little over 14,000 miles, so he at least got some enjoyment from it. In 2006 he passed away at 67:cry:

I have had it for about 6 years now and haven't done much to it yet.
When I got it, it had a 289 w/C-4 trans. I built and swapped in a 352 with a set of big valve heads and a small cam, and bought a C-6 trans from B&M. Yes... A 352, wasn't a slip on typing from a 351. Ford actually offered a 352 in 64, so with a lot of searching for a good block I opted to give it a semi-original heartbeat. Also added the wheels and tires. Other then that it's still bone stock so far. Haven't had a lot of time to make big changes to it.

Currently has a bench seat in front, someone robbed the buckets and console along the years. Still on the hunt for seats and console at every swap meet. Car does have the cool slide away steering column option. Pull up on the shifter arm and the whole steering column slides over to the center of the car.

The last picture is a 24"x 35" picture I did with a combination of water colors, markers and acrylics. The Galaxy was actually my Dad's. When he passed away 6 years ago he left me the car in his will. So I painted him in as the driver and the car as I would like to see it as an old school gasser someday when I get the time to tear in to it."thumbsup" ( have the straight axle setting in shop already:twisted:). He had named the car "Jerry"... Not entirely sure why... Something about the Big Bopper Jerry Lee Lewis. I keep the name out of respect.

Nice car, that's my second favorite year Galaxie. I bet it turns heads when you cruise through town. Not many of those around, good to see one that clean. "thumbsup"

Very nice.. Love the car and the story that goes with it is even better.
When I was in secondary and high school my dad and I worked on a 56 Chevy Belair.
Nothing really fancy, did a V-8 swap, and mostly maintenance work. When my sister and I went away to college, dad decided to sell the car and swore that we would build something when I got out of school.
In the summer after my third year of college, he died of asbestos based lung cancer.
I moved to Missouri for work after college and kind of lost track of the car for a while.
Just recently, the car has been seen driving around and I am determined that it will be mine once again.
The guy that purchased it made a bunch of changes and I know it has been sold once again, but it is still in the area and one day.
Whatever you do, don't let go of that one. You can't put a price on the memories..

that 352 when built right is nothing short of a beast, more torque than you'll ever need...lol. buddy of mine had a '73 f-100 with a 352/c-6 combo and man that was a fun truck to drive. beautiful car and awesome story, I can relate as I've got my granddad's '79 f-100 that I learned to drive in 23 years ago, those old ones are great, they were built to last and had personality, unlike todays vehicles.

one of my all time favorite cars in the world. my father had one when he was younger and still says it was his favorite car he owned.

Great looking car...always liked the old Galaxies.

My great aunt & uncle had a T-Bird with the swing away wheel. It was great for really freaking people the fawk out when they didn't know any better. :ror:
