I have a bit of a semi innocent question for you all. what would you think of a traxxas rock crawler, and better yet what sort of impact do you think it would have on the market? something tells me it would give sort of an official validation to the market (the maker of the currently most popular monster truck is now making a rock crawler. that's a lot of validation in my mind unless they wait too long) as well as forcing AE and Losi's hands on the matter. remember how the whole mini craze got started? losi came out of the blue and released the mini-t. a few years later and we've got nearly as many companies making minis as we do companies making MTs. remember how the whole 4WIS MT craze got stared? traxxas went against the grain, spent the money on R&D on making a 4WIS monster truck with a nitro mill. ten years later it is the most aftermarket supported truck on the face of the earth and has caused numerous other companies to make their own MTs to compete with it. were their minis before the mini-t? probably. were they as widely known as the mini-T is now? no. were there 4WIS monsters before the maxx platform (if there was such a time)? yes. were they that wide spread or popular? not really. as of right now there are very few rock crawler kits on the market compared to other kinds of vehicles (1:10 buggy, nitro TC, stuff like that). you see where I'm headed with this? if traxxas makes a rock crawler, in addition to effectively having the blessing of one of the big companies as well as another choice for axles, they have also shown that crawling is here to stay and that will more than likely prompt companies like AE and losi to release their own crawlers. not parts for crawlers. actual crawler kits. and that can only help the market. so what are you all's opinions on the matter, not of just having a traxxas crawler, but the potential implications of one being released?

I think at the point when traxxas will be making crawlers is when alot of people in this hobby will be looking for different things to do. The main attraction to this whole thing was to be able to create things for your self and use things that weren't ment to be used in certain situations. Such as the pede trans, using it as a center transmission rather than what its first application was.

I think that Axial gave the validation to the hobby we call RC crawlin with the release of the AX-10 kit. I think that Traxxas will have to follow suite as well as Losi and some other companies if they want a share of the market. With all the major companies making crawler parts of some sort, it is only a matter of time. I believe that 08 will see the introduction of several new kits from the big boys.

It will be just like all the rest. It will be full of plastic and they will make the big bucks off the aluminum upgrade parts just like they do on the maxx's, pede's, etc.

More crawler parts are better, but more crawlers mean more noobs. The forums went way downhill with the AX-10......
I don't think Traxxas will make a crawler anytime soon. Like the mini, they will likely think its a fad.

We crawlers do not need a "big company's blessing."
R/C Crawling will be the next thing with or with out Big R/C companies support.
Most of them are realizing how this sport will grow and are jumping on the bandwagon.
BTW what makes you think we need Traxxas?
Off of companies to pick , why Traxxas?
Traxxas doesn't even bother listening to what the consumers want.
Example:
Instead of an E-Revo they re-release an E-Maxx.
I personally think it will be great. I am a big supporter of their products. So they use plastic parts, big deal all of them do. They make the best mt on the market period. For example, the Revo, you didnt have to upgrade it to be competitive in racing. They made it right from the get go. I think it will be great and add more options to the community. If you dont like there products, dont buy them. It will help this hobby whether you like it or not. Not every body has skills like others to build things so some have to start form somewhere whethers its a RTR or Kit from Traxxas, Losi, Team Associated, whomever. Basically I would get one.
well if traxxas does it. then it will be a more of a rock basher. like the wheely king. which is fine in my book.

I like the idea of a an american based company manufacturing anything for this hobby. I for one would love to see even the manufactures on this forum come to the forfront and once again regain ground for something made in the USA.

I thought Traxxas cars/trucks were built in Taiwan or China? Their headquarters are in the US but I highly doubt Americans are building hundreds of RTR cars/trucks for pennies.

I just went to their web site, and it seems they are a US based company. Do you have information to support the fact that they are not? If you do, then I will certainly withdraw my comments.
i would have a traxxas crawler. since when has traxxas released a product that cant take the abuse of a total noob? 
we don't NEED a big company to step in but it would help. Kyosho does not sell much in the US. They are VERY picky with who they let sell their crap. Yokomo? you kidding me? i wouldnt touch it after i have seen the quality of their drifters...i have no problem with axial. for those that dont know, axial is not a giant corporation.

I am gonna call BS they have a facility where they design and diistribute in texas. the made in china sticker on there box's say's they are not made here. I dont think any of the rtr kits are made here by the so called US company's..
quality and avalibilty aside kyosho and yokomo are both making crawlers. and they are big r/c manufactures. and yes kyosho needs to work on there distrubution set up in the USA. and I think yokomo is a little over priced for what you get.

I love to see any new crawling product.
Although I don't think Traxxas will step in for a while. I'm going with Losi, HPI, and Kyosho.... In that order..... Losi's will hit this spring if not, summer.
