Adopt a newbie todaayy!!!

Total Newbie question here (see thread count) would an 85T motor be to slow for a Honcho that I'm going to build?

I recently acquired a T-maxx based crawler. Its freaking huge and my friends and I like to do indoor crawling (winter is very long up here in the Upper Peninsula so there is usually tons of snow) so I'm looking to step down to a 1/10th.

I am contemplating a couple routes

1) Purchase a 1/10th chassis, transmission, drive shafts (t-maxx crawler's need to be upgraded anyways), and tires while using my existing suspension and electronics to complete the crawler

2) Purchase a 1/10th kit minus electronics and complete it

I'm looking to make this transition as cheap as possible. If I were to keep the crawler I have now I would need to upgrade:
- The chassis: Its a full scale tube buggy style chassis. I don't think its necessary so I would be cutting a lot of tube off of it.
- The drivetrain: The 55 turn motor in it now does not do a very good job of moving this thing around. Its super heavy, and just doesn't have any balls compared to my friend's AX10, which walks all over mine while we're crawling around. The drive shafts need upgrading, cause a more powerful motor would most certainly toast the ones in it.
- Shocks: The shocks on it are quite limited on travel (I think they are under an inch).

Basically I'm just looking for advice here. I want to step down to 1/10th scale for sure, but I don't want to buy a complete crawler either, because it'd cost me a lot more money and all the parts I have would be going to waste.

Thanks for any help you could give. I started a thread today with this question but then spotted this thread.

I am so noob that I even ignore the meaning of " berg " ......

Told that, a quick question, if I had a 3 channels receiver with its radio with a 3 bottons switch , what's the needing of a Punk ?

Thanks

^A 85t motor has tons of torque but the trade off is slower wheel speed...for a scaler a 35t motor gives good wheels speed which is nice when you are walking next to it on trail runs.

^Honestly the best thing to do is just sack up and buy a AX10 kit (AX90001). Then you can recycle the electronics from your Tmaxx, you won't be disappointed"thumbsup"

^ The "PunkRC Dig Switch" is a electronic device that connects to the 3rd channel output of your radio reciever. The Punk switch is used to switch the voltage from both motors to just the front motor to allow for a "dig" maneuver.

Help, Im a noob. Seriously, help dammit. Plz

^State your issue bud and lets try to fix it"thumbsup"

erik,

ok I'm a newb to crawling. I just bought a losi NC and figured it would be fun camping. I've had it one week and got invited to first comp. I had a ton of fun, and was really amazed, at what these things will do. I have some lipo's on the way as well as a new charger to help lower the weight. I also bought some memory foam for the tires and added some weight to the wheels, 2.75 oz front 1.75 oz rear. It's just a starting point. does anyone know any other tricks I should do? shock springs? shock oil wt.? Also it seems like everyone at the comp I went to had dig. It this availabe for the NC? Obviously you would have to probally get a better radio. Thanks in advance.

Ps I'm addicted! This is fun:ror:

Help, I'm a crawler noob, there's one problem. I need a crawler. For trade. For something fast.

Your best bet would be to make 30 usefull posts on here or buy a 20 dollar star to get access to the classifieds, and buy something from there. "thumbsup"

You guys, please PM me for any direct questions you have. Ive become too busy to check this thread for questions. OR you can post here and wait on a response from someone else viewing the thread. "thumbsup"

I am a new bully owner and would like be adopted by another bully owner for mod help, electronic placements, and whatever else might be helpful.

Hey guys, I just picked up a ax10 in a trade, using a hitec645mg to steer. I made some steel lower links using gx160 push rods and steering drag link also. The drag link is identical to the plastic one in legnth, and how much it's angled out. Still stock servo placement with a beefy tie rod from the servo horn. When moving or sitting still, it'll turn the wheels to the right (push away) fully, but turning left (pulling) it is a) slower and b) doesn't turn all the way. Now I am no newb to rc and I know how to center the steering before setting trim if I have to. I also know it is physics that it's easier to push then it is to pull. But any ideas on why this is happening? No binding, no bec being used. Is it just a tired servo? I have had it for along time.

Newby in the room!!!

Ok..Im a newbie with all kinds of equipment. All Axial AX10 Stuff. Now , does someone want to adopt me? Its sucks not having a family!!!

Looking for a mentor to help with getting started in Scale Crawling...I like to ask lots of questions, but sometimes when you post in general forums you get too many answers. Thanks!

Help, I'm a rock crawling n00b who gets offended by the term.
I've been raised as to when someone says ones a newb, they also infer the term "dumb ass" to the matter of newbish.
