advantage of having a droop set-up

hi! i'm getting my ARTR very soon.
i have a question regarding DROOP SET-UP.
what are the advantages and disadvantages?
i'm trying to search for it but i can't find the search button.:idea:

Anyway, droop will give you a much lower ride hieght. But if you are happy with a sprung setup, droop might not be for you.
 
I am personally not happy with my sprung setup. I have a stock axial with maxx size shocks, all the electronics mounted below the tops of the tires, and 10 oz. of lead in front tires/2 oz. lead in back. This all sounds great until you realize that the cg is still too high. It won't even stand sideways on the rims like my old tlt BMVii with twice the ground clearance. I just want to know if droop will help the cg because ground clearance is not much of an issue.
 
By having a full droop set up or a 50 / 50 set up, how is that on the torque twist? I have a MRC and with no preloads (so with droop) the torque twist was not good. So preloads went back in.
 
If you run a droop set up it will lower your ride height quite a bit but this can be good on a lot of terrain. Also having a droop set up will help get rid of torque twist if set up correctly.( shock oil, internal spring tension etc.)
 
There are alot of advantages to a droop setup but there are alot of disadvantages. A droop setup will lower your CoG but it will also decrease your ground clearance. the main thing you want to try is to keep your weight between the center line of the axles and the top of the tires. It will improve most aspects of your rig. I would recomend a droop set up that gives you clearance. I run a reverse sprung setup that rides high I have 2 3/8" ground clearance. You need to experiment and learn what works best for you."thumbsup"
 
How thick oil is generally used in droop setups? Are there any alternatives to rc shock oils?
 
I run Droop on my rig and I like it very well. It is true that you will losse clearance running a droop...BUT only if you do not use a chassis setup for droop. The chassis I am running ATM is made just fro droop, I have over 3" of ground clearance pushing 4" and I love it. I am running berg axles as well. On the same chassis running BIGBORES in a droop with my ax10 I had about 2-5/8" ground clearance, that was about as high as I could go without messing up the balance of the rig.




as far as shock oil goes, I have tried 25w,45w and I am using 80w atm. I like the control of 80w its smooth for my wieght but not tooo slow.

Small tip, if you run droop, flip the shocks upside down, keeps more weight down low"thumbsup"
 
i run full droop with big bores with 60wt oil on a top bannana chassis. i have 2 1/4in at rest and just under 4 at full droop.
 
Question: How does one get a 50/50 droop setup? Run REALLY soft springs?

Nope, I run a short spring under th piston and a short spring between the shock body and the ball connector.

I will get a better picture while I am at the shop tomorrow.

I am thinking of taking out the springs on my stock chassis. And converting back to straight (from bent) links. But I will be using silicone fuel tubing on the outside part of the shock shaft to even my ride height out. My goal is to have my lower links parallel to flat ground, just like a 1:1 buggy's goal.
I will be flipping my shocks as well.

I'm also ditching the Krawler tires (what we call them in the 1:1 world) and I ordered some Losi Claws, and put in an order for the Mayhem Eng. comp phatty's with the bearing weights. I'm trying to convert to a comp rig, but without swapping everything out to another chassis.
