affordable 3ch radio system?

I'm new to Spektrum radios, but I'm confused by this.
According to the website there are: DX3R, DX3S, DX3.0, and DX2.0.
The manual for the DX3.0 says it has 3pos 3rd channel:
http://www.spektrumrc.com/ProdInfo/Files/SPMDX30ManualHR.pdf

Where does it say that? Page 16 clearly states it has a 2 position third channel. The dx3 we keep referring to was the predecessor to the dx3.0. The dx3r is the other one with a three position third channel but is obviously more expensive.

Well, it's not so clear to me :-?
2P = The 2P, or 2 position, Servo Travel function is designed to be used as a transmission gear shift channel. This feature is designed for use only with vehicles such as the Traxxas® T-Maxx. This function is accessible through the Grip Button C or Grip Dial A if Grip Button C is occupied by another function. In this function, the servo’s travel can be selected to only three positions: left, center and right. The left and right travel values are determined by the End-Point Adjustment function, page 23.

They call it "2 position" but then they say "three positions"... Is "center" not selectable?
