Aggressive driver?

Says the guy pulling a trailer and wondering in their lane to get someone's attention.:lmao:

yeah,I do that, but just a little bit into thier lane:ror:

but not to spoke em,or to crash em,just to get them to notice me.I'm pretty old school I guess since I dont text. But so many people now spend more time looking at thier phone than the do the road. And there are those that may not be texting, but they have no idead whats going on around them.Alot of people drive right in front of them, and dont know whats going on around themI used to get frustrated at those people, but hell, life us just to short.
.I try to drive about 1/4 mile ahead of where I'm at,watching the action of everyone I can in that area.

In my opinion its the people who slow down to change lanes and enter the highway below the speed limit that cause traffic problems...and the assholes who wait until last minute to merge when there have been signs for 2 miles stating the left lane is closed ahead!!!
I agree. They too are impeding the flow of traffic....just like you.

You know, not everyone reacs to "intemidation" the same way.
Agreed. I am one that wont. I drive two cars....mostly my 4Runner and I will let you hit that car in a heartbeat. You'd either better have good insurance or be able to lose me quickly. On days that I drive my jeep....well, go ahead and try to hit that one, it has plenty of skids and beefy bumpers and has held up to two (not at fault) wrecks now with nothing more than a scratch. generally, if I'm in the left/fast lane and see that I'm going faster then the guy in front of me, and if there's room for him to pull into the right lane... I will flash a couple of times. If there's not room for him to move over, I wait till there is.
If the person is an ass and doesn't move over or worse, hit's the brakes I'll just wait to pass. But, I think everyone knows that a light flash is a POLITE way of asking for the right of way. Maybe that's just because I grew up around truck drivers...

If I'm in the fast lane and someone is coming up behind me, I always move over and let them by.

I spend a lot of time watching and waiting for an opening. I honestly feel that my driving should not hinder anyone else.

.

you hit my style 100% on the nail, my moms bf was a log truck driver and his dad was too so I've learned about the polite blinking of the lights but I only do that with trucks since they know what it means, I don't do it with cars because I don't think they even understand it was something polite, and just assume it's me being rude lol
And ya I'll admit I'll go 5mph above the speed but never more and if someone is coming up behind me, I'd like to make them slow down but I just move over to be respectful and not cause anything

haven't seen it for a while here, but it used to be flash your lights (daytime only) at oncoming traffic a few times to warn of police speed radar trap. Up home in QLD the cops do mobile road-side speed traps wherever they want, but down here in NSW the speed traps tend to be more fixed speed cameras with 3-4 signs leading up to them to warn you of the camera and to slow down.

I hate some drivers, I drive down the road hauling ass honking my horn and flashing my lights. And them stupid people still don't get out of my way.
Some even flip me off and yell.
How much warning do they want me to give them.

You people are the rudest on the road. There is 2 laws that very few people know.

1. Slower traffic keep right

2. Do not inpeded the flow of traffic

If your in the left lane (I.E fast lane, passing lane, lane 1) and you break check someone then you are a ass. You think you better then everyone else and what I call a road Nazi. The person behind you may be speeding but you are the one hendering others!! YOU are the hinderence. You are the slower traffic you are impeding the flow of traffic and you are causing congestion. It is you people that cause traffic. Who are you to dictate
what others are doing. In this you are in the wrong sitting on your high horse.

who said anything about brake checking? i sure didn't. if i am going OVER the speed limit passing someone and you come up riding my ass flashing your lights immediately, there is no reason for me to speed up. i will continue my pass and get over if you don't act like you own the road... that's not impeding the flow of traffic. :flipoff:

and i'm not talking about flashing their lights in a polite way, i'm talking about when they are being an ass. big difference. when someone has their turn signal on and are waiting to get over i will flash my lights to let them know that i see them and am letting them over.

I'm purely defensive 99% of the time, I get in the slow lane and do the speed limit, anyone else can go around me. I'm not gonna slow down for some idiot tailgating me, I'll simply ignore them. High beams behind me annoy the hell out of me, but for the most part I ignore them. Worst come to worst I'll pull into a gas station or down a dirt road and let them pass.

The 1% is in my high school's parking lot, but that's a whole different can of worms:roll:

I dont think you are an aggressive driver at ALL. you are simply moving out of the way to move out of the aggressive drivers way.
Since you are putting turn signals on, and not just swirving around like a maniac, and speeding i would say you aren't aggressive.

Though my driving experience.. only 6 months.. I have encountered VERY aggressive drivers. Once i was going 25mph in a residential neighborhood, some idiot behind me just passes me at like 65mph on a residential road, and flips me off..???

Another was an idiot in a Chevy Avalanche was blocking me off for some reason, because he would drive way too slow infront of me, and everytime i changed lanes, he did so too. What he did next was just $$#%#$% stupid!!! i turn into the left lane, and then he just hard turns left, into the median! i had to smash the brakes, and he yells at me "why are you riding my @$$!" I was like what are you talking about? essential because he was the one who kept blocking me off, slowing down infront of me. not to mention, i gave him good space, about 10 feet back.

Another driver.. was when he/she kept making lane changes like an idiot without signals, speeding, and flipping off others. Not to mention, he/she almost hit a car in front of me, since he/she didnt check their blind spot.. o.O Way to put others in danger you idiot..

But the thing i hate most, when driving is those idiot tailgaters! I am simply following the DMV regulations. speed limit posted is 25, yet i get yelled at or flipped off for doing 24ish.... why are people so ignorant, and irresponsible? I feel so unsafe driving at times. not to mention, i just started driving 6 months ago.

Two high school aged drivers....two very different attitudes. Speed, thank you for being a good driver. Hopefully MRCC can take some of your advice to heart...

How can you even pretend to know what its like after 6 months. And 10 feet isn't much of a buffer.

If you see someone on your ass flashing their lights, ever think that maybe they NEED to get by you? I had to drive a friend to the ER once, drove very aggressively. Lights flashing, extra 130W driving lights flashing, train horn (yes, train horn) honking, etc...with my big truck combined with the horn you couldn't have not known I was coming at you. Most everyone was out of my way before I got to them, however there was one dipstick we encountered closer to civilization that was driving below the speed limit (45 in a 55) and I could not get by due to oncoming traffic, I was using my horn, lights, etc but this person would not move...then as traffic broke would speed up again as to not let me by just in spite of me trying to. Finally I was able to slip by in the left lane, the look turned from pissed off driver to horrified at the sight of my friend holding MY blood soaked shirt to his bleeding face as we went by. I know this driver learned a lesson, and I hope you can too. Next time your holding someone up and they are giving the "I want to pass you" signals, please let them by.

PS-for those who will question it, because I know there will be, the reason I was driving him and not waiting for an ambulance...we were going to meet the ambulance halfway because we were so far in the boonies.

That is all.

1 Car length for ever 10mph is the rule...so he was right.

Plus think about whats in front of you. My Boring looking WRX can outstop my friends Corvette now . So just because the car looks slow doesn't mean you can stop enough in 10 feet plus your reaction time.

Imagine trying to out brake a motorcycle at 10 feet...you'd likely kill him.

If there is an emergency, you should have your hazard lights on. Otherwise, you just look like every other asshole driver....

i understand why you'd say that about driving your friend to meet an ambulance, and that is the one excuse to drive like that. however, i live in Kansas City, nowhere near the boonies and an ambulance is always able to get places in 5 minutes or less here, therefore there's no excuse. and besides, if it's THAT serious of an emergency, they can life flight you out of the boonies "thumbsup"

trust me, that thought always crosses my mind when it happens to me. it's rare for it to happen, i simply brought it up cuz it gets under my skin and it just happened to me the other day. most of the time as soon as i start slowing down people back off then i get over, but every few months there's an occurrence where someone obviously just thinks that where they're going is more important than where i'm going, and want to put my life, and everyone else on the roads life, in danger.

We've discussed this before. The general consensus for most here is that they would rather put themselves, whoevers in the car with them, and everyone on the road in danger by trying to take control of the situation.

If youre in the boonies its not really going to matter whether you try to drive or wait for a chopper theres going to be some time before help is obtained. Just part of the deal when youre that far out. I guess the "excuse" if youre in the city is that some people want to feel like theyre doing something, beyond calling for help.

I live rural but am still within 5min of the nearest dispatch. EMTs are trained to handle emergancies, I am not. Therefore Im one of those "idiots" that would wait for help.

Oh, now I get it.

Wow, just wow.
Do you seriously not see the difference between you driving like an asshole and flashing your lights so people will move out of your way and when you do the same but someone in your car is injured?

BTW, I really dont think you do "get it".....you dont think there is anything wrong with you driving terribly and putting others lives at risk because you are being "intimidating" (i.e. "wreckless")...

I drove my dying dog to the vet as fast as I could in my Dodge Stealth, about 10 city blocks... not that fast because there's a stop sign at every intersection but the Stealth could get up and go within a block.
I had my horn on the whole way and only encountered 1 other car, he moved out of the way immediately.
I remember looking for pedestrians (kids) and trying to keep it "safe" but I was not thinking clearly... my best buddy, my kid, was dying in the seat next to me

It was totally unexpected. He was 8.5 yrs old and very fit. It was early on a Sat. morning. We just got back from our morning walk and they (2 boxers, Poncho and Cisco) wanted to play. I let them loose in the yard, they ran around the corner of our place, 15 seconds latter I got around the corner to find Poncho lying on the ground... having a heart attack I think. I freaked, called the vet and they said bring him in now!

In hind sight, I think I should have tried CPR instead of driving him the 6 mins to the vet... he died on my front seat.
