Alien (compound) vs Predator? - new Proline stuff

I prefer the Proline two stage foams in my Proline tires. I use CI foams in others.
The Proline foams work well for light rigs like my mostly stock SCX10 II.
Predator tires are softer than the G8 compound tires so you might need stiffer foams depending on the weight of your vehicle.

I think the Pro-Line 2 stage foams fall somewhere between a 4.5 CI lil nova med and soft. I tried them on my lighter scx10 II with the predator hyraxes and they were fine. It's around 5 lbs.
On my 9 lb+ hardbody scx10 II, I had to step up to the 4.75 CI lil nova med and firm and they are working great. Good sidewall flex when I need it and they don't flatten out at rest. The sidehilling is a lot better with the taller foams too.

Haven't had a chance to run my Predator Hyrax yet but holy crap they are soft and sticky. The new Prolines are much softer in feel compared to the RB XLs they are replacing, makes the Alien compound feel like Axial R35 or RC4WD X2SS (the old stuff) in comparison.

I got about a 4 hour run in with my Predator TSL XLs on my TRX4 Bronco. I'm using CI 4.75" Lil Novas soft outer up front, medium outer in the rear. These things hook up very well. Watching them bunch up as they tried to pull/push the truck up the rocks was crazy. I've never had tires do that to this extent. This truck is just a mild build trail truck. I'm itching to see what they can do on something more built. Hopefully they make the Class 1 Hyraxes in this compound too.
I'll be switching over to Proline's dual stage foams. My CIs are kinda beat up and a bit soft for this application.

They are great, but I would only use them with Proline wheels. On a standard inner ring, they are pushed side to side because of a more narrow contact area.

I haven't run my Predators yet, but I have run Aliens. KLR tires have super stiff carcasses. They only work well on a heavy truck IMO. I had them on my light Sawback and they were average at best. I put them on my fairly heavy TRX-4 and I'm a fan. Do I think Aliens or KLRs are worth the price premium? Nope.
IMO, Proline makes the best compounds for right out of the box Scale tire performance everywhere. G8 is an awesome all around east coat tire. Predator in my 5 hours of use is as good everywhere as G8. Wet Predator works better especially when algae or wet wood (logs sticks planks etc) is involved. I have not used them in dryer geographical locations.
I have had great success with KLR's as long as I am running them on a truck with wheel speed. the dryer the better. When I spend time in Vegas, first thing I do is swap on the KLR's.

Basically all of the newer compounds are awesome. Especially if you take the time (have the time) to play around with foams.

Is the predator compound supposed to replace G8, or will they be sold side by side? What I don't get is why Proline's brand new Bfg mud terrains are only available in G8 and not Predator (being so new).

It would appear they intend to keep both in parallel, with the G8 as the "standard" compound and the Predator labeled as the "super soft".
It doesn't seem they'll offer the 2.2 Hyrax in the Predator compound either, at least not yet.

Ya know, most people used to say that the "pink dot" Rovers were too soft too and the "white dot" were largely preferred. Much like the difference between Ottsix's red vs gold compounds. There comes a point of diminishing returns.
They were ether PL dual stage, or Ci dual/soft.
It makes perfect sense...
It was 85* out, Rocks were probably over 100*. Even in racing there are multiple compounds for different track temps/conditions.
Hyrax or TSL? I have not ran my Predator Hyraxes but the TSLs worked very well for me here and its hotter and drier than Axialfest. I'm guessing the Hyraxes would not be quite as good in the heat with the soft/thin lugs being so flexible. I'm saving mine for fall/winter when it cools off.
