Ok, so these finally got delivered, on a Sunday no less!! These tires are nice, comparing them to my RB XL's which only have about 20 minutes of run time on them so they are like new..but my initial thoughts are these:

they are sticky out of the package, but not as sticky as my RB XL's were out of the package..

they are a bit taller than the RB XL's but not by much..

they are a bit narrower that the RB XL's, again, not by much..

I chose to run the pro-line dual stage foams in them. The RB XL's have CI DD foams in them, medium in front and firm in the rear. The PL foams are the same all around. The PL foams feel softer than the CI mediums but firmer than the CI soft foams..

the foams that came stock were standard crappy memory type foams..

I will say this much, the stock foams that came with the RB XL's were much much better quality and felt much more substantial than the stock foams that came with the PL Hyrax's

I mounted these up on the wheels I just got from LURC and I am waiting on color matching center hubs so I borrowed center caps from my TSS robby gordon wheels.

I will test these when I am able, weather is crappy today, 5 inches of snow today.. but heres a few pics to start..

Very interested to hear your comparison. I'm also running my Hyraxes with ProLine's new foams mounted on LURC wheels and it's an awesome combo. The one place I'm seeing an advantage over the RBXLs is on slick rock and I think it has everything to do with the abundance of siping on the Hyrax. Both are great tires for sure and I'm having a ton of fun every time I test their abilities. I'm positive that none of the numerous 1.9s I tried before ever came close to the performance of the Hyrax or new Rock Beast.

I have to agree, I know my KLR's did not perform as well as the new RB XL's do, at least for my terrain anyway...I want to get these out a run them in the worst way, but I aint doin it in the snowy mess we have now!

Sub'd! Sounds like P-L has hit a grand slam with these new tires. I can't wait to get my hands on a pair of 2.2 Hyrax tires.

Also...are you using the wideners for the LURC wheels?

nope, no wideners at all.... I am waiting for scale hardware to mount them to the vp hubs on there, hopefully the red center caps fit right, and I can pull off the robby gordon center caps as I aint really diggin the look..."thumbsup"

I'll be interested in hearing more about this comparison as well.

I find it odd that Pitbull uses their foams as an excuse for their bat shit crazy pricing yet most people on this site aren't impressed and are replacing them with CI foams anyway. Even if RBXL's have a marginal performance advantage over the Hyrax they don't seem to be worth the extra cost ($53 (Proline) vs $80 (Pitbull) for a set 4 at RPP). I meant to grab a set at their 50% off sale, but didn't realize they ended early in the evening. I'll bite on RBXL's if they get their pricing inline with the competition.
