Another Noob and my Mall Crawler - pics

I've been lurking about this site for quite some time thinking about building a custom Clod, but just don't have the funds right now. When I saw the Wally World crawler it got me to thinking and after seeing them in action I went out and got my own.

From there I went about doing some simple mods, cut tires and springs and then set about making it more like my 1:1 mall crawler. here's a few pics, let me know what you think.

BTW, I used paint that I had already, the silver happened to be hammerite... :?

A suggestion, the blue links stand out like a sore thumb. paint them black if you have any.

Ditto on the body, where did you get it / whats it off of?

The body came off of a crappy Target RC car that I bought years ago. I doubt they still sell them.

About the blue links, yeah I need to paint them.

that xterra body looks killer on the nylint. I know its off subject but how does your 1:1 xterra do offroad? i was thinking of getting either an o4 or 05 standard and putting a 3" lift when i have funding

I really enjoy wheeling my 1:1. Not the most hardcore truck, but it get's the job done for what I need.

Not sure what kind of wheeling you are looking to do, but the Xterra is a good choice if you like to do light duty wheeling and need lots of space to carry stuff. It's also nice to have AC and an enclosed cab. :mrgreen:

The 00-04 have quite a bit of aftermarket support now (no where near what you can get for a Yota), Calmini even offers a SAS kit. The only major downside being the lack of power (even the supercharged ones can use some more juice).

The 05 on the other hand have a ton of power and are quite capable out of the box. Aftermarket is very slim, but that will change over the next few years.

For the price I went with my X over a 4-Runner, but it's no Jeep when it comes to hardcore trails.

I was nearly banned from Zukiworld.com for posting my experiences with Calmini.

Ed and Steve must be good friends. Ed told me that he was allowing my "alternative opinions" to be posted, but if I continued speaking of my experiences with Calmini my stay on Zukiworld would be short-lived.

I told him how I felt. :lol:

Steve ended up calling me trying to smooth things over with Ed and myself...using the info given when I placed my order. I told him I didn't give that information to them so he could call and defend Ed's actions.

So bottom line is I was highly discouraged to post factual information (that potential buyers NEED TO KNOW) regarding Calmini products on the Zukiworld site. :roll:

you need to become a Zuwharrie member then, they're allowed to badmouth cal-mini from top to bottom over there. Find a few threads on the forums there about cal-mini transfer case gears for sami's, page upon page of crappy service and lies.

Thanks again guys. I rotated my rear link today to gain more clearance. Climbs better now.

I've heard mixed reviews about Calmini's customer service. All of the stuff I bought from them I bought through www.xterraparts.com (l live in CA and this saves me on taxes). I can say that they make a quality product.

BTW, they will be comming out with a lift for the 05.
