any preppers among us?

we have some prep kits at the house. food , meds ,batteries , flash lights , blades , many of the basic bug out supplies.
two .22 rifles and a .22 hand gun. many ,many rounds.
I find it funny that people want to have an ar as a bug out weapon.
Have fun dragging a back pack with 1k plus rounds of .223 , .308 etc....
I guess it would be great as long as you can drive a truck load of ammo.

You need a French taunter, to not follow the French method.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Funny thing is I traded/sold a lot of my high/weird caliber stuff. I stocked up on basic caliber stuff and lots of ammo. Anyone in my family can shoot any of our .22s with great accuracy. Anyone in my family can also carry a back pack full of .22 ammo with no problem...

that is the point . People want these big battle riffles . You have to think if you have to move , they need ammo. I think some one on here told me stupid it was to have a .22 for that. I was like whatever have fun walking 100 yards before you rethink it.
Even if you have a truck it has to stop . then unless your sleeping on your cases of ammo they might get stollen.

a well placed shot from a .22 can bring down a deer . Will not fold it , but can drop it. so makes it the only choice . Plus not as much noise .
Big factor (maybee) I would think steath would be beter in any type of bug out .

I'm sure it's easy to find but, I wish I knew the weight difference of brick of .22 LRs compared to the same amount in 9mm and .223s

not so sure on the weight , but a box of 500 .22 's is about the volume of a box of 50 .40 or 9mm . Just hand gun
about the size of three to four boxes of .223 or 5.56 or .308
so 60 to 80 battle rifle shots take up as much room as 500 .22
it is such a no contest .

Oh left out a big part of bug out kit. A nurse ! Not that I married her for just such a thing. Has to be a good thing to have around . My oldest son also shoots in the winchester program and for the local 4h . IF I can not hit it he can !lol

Do you have one of those sexy nurse outfits packs away in your Bug Out Bag?

Hoard anything that helps you sleep at night but start talking zombies and the conversations over.

I have a 72 hour kit for short term emergencies with food, water, meds, etc...

I also store water, food, blankets, candles, batteries, assorted first aid supplies, etc... in case of a prolonged disruption of services.

Sufficient firearms and ammo available.

Bought a dehydrator, a vacuum sealer, and a pressure cooker recently, just need to pick up more ball jars.

I've got some friends that became preppers a couple years ago. They've become insanely paranoid...random everyday events are evidence of our impending doom. They get all their "news" from facebook and conspiracy websites and I honestly think they believe all of it.

I couldn't even begin to tally the amount of $ they've spent. Its madness.

There is nothing wrong with being prepared for natural disasters, bad weather and the destruction it brings, or the bad stuff that happens in urban areas. Preparing yourself for Obamas 3rd term when he brings economic collapse, martial law, and lets the Chinese invade is just kooky.

The dung beetle on the first page was hilarious. In our younger days we called them Turd Hustlers due to their determination and feverish hustlin' pace.

I watched a documentary and people were recounting the ~3 days of the blackout in the northeast. At first, people acted like it was fun - camping. After the 2nd day, people were looking at each other thinkin - "I could easily take yo shit". Also, look what happened during Katrina.

If something went down, grocery/gas/hardware store shelves would be bare within 24 hours. I don't think hoards of ammo would be necessary unless it was an alien invasion/zombie apok/widespread nuclear war.

As far as prepping goes...I think its all about locationlocationlocation.

PROPERTY w/SHELTER is the most important asset to have. I have property wo/shelter @ 10k feet in CO and property w/shelter in the least populated county in NM. Trying to fight/hold position on a south slope in a national forest is for fools.

Weighed some of my ammo.

10 rounds of each.

.22lr 40 grain 1.1oz
5.56 55 grain 4.0oz
9mm hollow point 115 grain 4.1oz
.357 mag hollow point 125 grain 4.5oz
.45 auto 230 grain 7.3oz
.40 s&w hollow point 180 grain 5.8oz

I'd love to have a little piece of land in the mountains.

That would be so nice.

Come down here...lots of backwoods property available in the Ozarks. I think they even throw in a banjo with a purchase of 10 acres or more. "thumbsup"

Banjos are some of the coolest/ scariest things to hear. At a park they're cool. In the woods on a four day river trip they're the scariest thing ever conceived . Both senarios I've had personal experience with. I prefer the shit and run method of escaping personaly.
