Any VW guys on here?

if you have a place to keep it,keep it.
there are so many things you can do with a good vw.
when the economy picks up again. our next project will be a open wheel vw roadster. but the possibilities are almost endless.

Coolness, here's the one I finished building last year...and how it started life in my hands (minus the long block which I added). While I'm a fan of open VW roadsters, there's no need to hack a perfectly good bodied car to do that. There are plenty of basket cases and or parts out there perfect for those type builds.

I'm planning something like BJoe posted as soon as I can get my hands on a clean ride like you've got posted here...but a realistic price is going to be heavily based on the areas not shown in the pics. Condition of rust "problem areas", suspension, brakes, electrical, drivetrain, etc will all have a huge impact on what it will bring.

Missing some lug nuts there brother.

That thing is hard as nails though. Never been a fan of street rails but you may have just changed my opinion.

Rare? No. It's a late model standard beetle, no big deal. In 1977 there were 258,634 standard beetles produced. 32,762 of those beetles, were German production. The car would actually be more "RARE" if it were a Super beetle as 1977 was the last year of production with only 4,176 1303 Sedans produced. The car seems to be a clean car from the pix you posted. I would guess that you could sell it for $3k-$4k to the right buyer. The problem is that the right buyers are hard to find at the moment. TheSamba.com is a great place to start doing research and potentially selling the car. I would do as others have suggested and also post on CL when you're ready to sell. The more exposure you get for the car, the better the chance of finding your buyer. If you want to keep it I would suggest a lowering job and maybe some German look additions. I wouldn't personally ever buy a late model, but if I owned one, I would deffinatley go with the BeetleCup/ German look and stuff a Fuel injected 2 litre type four motor in it with Porsche cooling, built by Jake Raby at Aircooledtechnology.com. That silver car with some blacked out Porsche twists would be pretty tight. (For a fat chick)

Let's see some more pix of the car. How's the interior? Battery tray rust? Open the hood and take a couple pics of the spare tire well so we can see if she's been hit. Do the same at the rear apron area. treat that car like a dirty whore you're taking pix of for Hustler... we wanna see beetle porn.

by rare... I meant just the fact that it was mfg'd in Germany, not the US... it was imported from Germany. the car has around 78k miles on it, and my father in law was the second owner. He didn't do much as far as maintenance on it but at least he kept it in the garage! "thumbsup"

I really like the looks of the older bugs, my first car was a red 69... I'd like to have something different sitting in my garage... maybe something with a big bbc in it! thanks for all you guys help and opinions!

The wife and I have been tossing around the idea of building one of these again.
hoodride_vw.jpg

I had one before we got married when we still lived in San Diego and wish I had never sold it.

I have owned 4 pre '67 baja's, a '69 square back, a '62 and '64 like pictured above, a 2 seat sand rail and a Meyers Manx that was set up for the dunes and is now owned by Charles Hendrickson of the show Pinks.

Unfortunitly I have no pictures other then a couple old snap shots because my old computer crashed and I lost them all...back up your shiat!!!
