Anybody know V6 Toyota engines?

I don't know anout the 3.4 but from What I remember the 4.3 Vortec w/ the aluminum block is only 45lbs heavier then the 22RE

I have definitely decided against the engine swap at this time, but I would like to get something off of this truck before he turns it in.

Let me throw this out there.

Both the 99 and the 92 have 5 spd manual trannys. Would those be a direct swap??

I think the 99 has a little larger clutch, but could the clutches stay with the engine and just swap the tranny and transfer case???

And the ac compressors - will the 99 fit my 92? On that one, I would not put one back onto the 99 - just take it off for use on my 92 later.

Transmission's are not easily swapped. While both are designated r150f, the 96 and up have a longer bellhousing and input shaft. Also the t-case and mating surface are different.

Not sure on the ac pump. On my 96 2rz swap to a 90 with 3.0, the 97 pump had a similar flange, but one had and alignment pin and one didn't. Apple to oranges when compared to what your doing other than similar years.

Instead of motor swap, maybe a vehical upgrade when your's is no longer doing it for you? There is something to be said for going to the parts store and only having to remember one year and one vehical model.:lmao: Not that I've learned that leason yet.

4.3 = 425lb
22r = 291lb

Never heard of a aluminum 4.3 installed in any gm from the factory. Nor have I heard of aluminum heads on one. Not say it never happened, just saying I've never heard or seen it.

X2, granted I have only been a GM certified tech for 4 years, I don't claim to know it all, I have just never seen any part of a 4.3 be aluminum.

I have a feeling the $4700 price tag negates the 85lb weight savings for most people though.

The 3.4 v6 is a great upgrade from the 3.slow. I have a 98 taco with the 3.4 that I bought brand new and is now on custom one ton axles and 40 inch swampers. The engine still runs as good as new with plenty of power to turn the big meats. I beat on it and it has yet to let me down. Check out this link. 2.7 instead of 3.4 but might be pretty helpful. I had a chance to help do some work on this truck and is definitly a nice well thought out build. Either way you decide to go good luck.
