Anybody use the 120amp turnigy trackstar

I was wondering if any has input on those turnigy trackstar 120amp esc. Been watching videos and reading online and seems like a good esc BUT not much on crawlers. Does anybody have experience with this? Planning to buy an esc for my sins rig without breaking the bank.

I'm assuming your sons rig is some type of trail/scale/crawler?

I've never used that ESC, but I think 120A is serious overkill for a go-slow vehicle.

For a good budget ESC I'd recommend the Hobbywing 1060 or 1080.

Look at the HobbyWing 60A Justock. Its budget friendly, can be waterproofed, and is offered as a bundle with their Justock sensored motors.

But this mostly depends on the rig youre running.

I've only used this esc on my 1/10 buggies. Something light and doesn't have a lot of load. I did try one on my Scx20 and didn't have any real problems. It's not waterproof though.

Which vehicle are you going to put this ESC in? And are you running brushed or brushless?

I have been running a trackstar 150A esc for a few years now. It never gets warm and it works well all around. The only thing I can say that could be an issue is that reverse isn't as smooth as it could be. Forward has a great linear curve but reverse goes from 0-5% then it's linear. It could be something in the programming but I've never cared enough to check. It has pretty wicked drag brakes too.


On a side note if anyone has a use for a 120A programming card flip me a couple dollars for shipping and its yours. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered my 150A and ordered the wrong card so of course they're not compatible. :lol:

The 150A is a big ol girl so know that going into it. It's the same size as a tekin rx8 and after having them both I'd pick the trackstar over the rx8 every time.

150A is probably complete overkill. We could help you, but you need to tell us which motor, battery, and vehicle you're going to use.
