I went for the first time a few weeks back, and it was a good time! Stupid carp are pushing out the other species, it felt good doing my part to thin the herd.

went on the Wisconcin river"thumbsup"Never been bowfishing, unless you count walking around with my dad when I was 6. He used a PSE that I currently have.
@ 2500hd Where do you go? Me and my cousins were thinking about Wappapello Lake sometime this summer.

I love bowdishing. We have a lake two hours from here with a ton of tilapia. Last trip I brought back 75 lbs of fillets from 2 days shooting. Made for a killer fish fry. My preferred tilapia rig is a recurve so I can get more arrows off quicker as I hit large bed areas at once from a jon boat. Nothin like cruising the shallows with a bow in one hand and the trolling motor control in the other.
Regardless, I can't believe I missed this till now. Cool to know other folks here are into it as well! Nice fishin!

I have pretty much sold all my rc's since the family and I have gotten back into bowfishing.
I go every day before lunch, lucky enough to have a good spot on the way to work, and the family and I go every weekend.

That fishing spot looks incredible. Are you pulling these monsters out of the same body of water with all the little ones in the other picture? You're making it look almost too easy.

Yup, they are all coming from the same river. Basicly stalking down the bank waiting for the big ones to show themselves. I normally wear my Rambo handband too!

My dad and I use to catch gar on a rod and reel, using baling twine as a bait. Take a 1 foot piece of baling twine (The rope type, not plastic) tie a knot in one end of it. Hook the knot on a set of triple hooks, frail out/unravel the twine so the strings are apart. When casting the twine as a bait use short twitching motions and the gars will tear into the unraveled twine rope. Causing their teeth in the bill to become tangled in the twine not the hooks.
We usually made up several pieces of the twine so we could just cut the bait off and start new. Didn't want to untangle the teeth.
A sharp wrap with a short boat paddle usually calmed the gars down:lmao: Totally!!!
