I just picked up a lightly used AX10 in an SWX chassis for pretty cheap. Looking at potentially getting into some crawling with it, and using the SCX for play.

Is the AX10 still relevant these days? With a dig unit, and light 3S battery, and some good wheels and tires, should i need anything else?

Well your in the right section! Yes the ax10 is good to go & mostly axles get used but all up to you!

Check out build threads & stickies to aquire your taste"thumbsup"

Sofi was using an swx chassis until recently. If your going to run it check out her and her brothers threads for some ideas. But there are a few chassis under a 100 that could be a good upgrade.

Couldnt find anything by the name of Sofi...is that who I would be looking for?

Lots of guys use those axles and there are tons of stuff you can do/buy to them to make them better. If you don't already have the under/over drive gears then start with that. Then you can do the XR mod with wider tubes and get better steering and you shouldn't need the dig. That would be a great start to a nice sporty. The SWX chassis is a bit dated but will be fine if your plans are just messing around."thumbsup"

So here is what I have......if you have any information, or where to start, or if i should dump this and start elsewhere....im all ears. Or even what its worth!

It looks like a good start. Are you planning on running it as comp rig or just for fun? If your running it just for fun the first thing you should do is get some electronics and run it. If your planning on comping it then you will want to first get rid of the dig then get over/under gears and do the xr mod on at least the front axle, then get electronics. I got my swx about 2 years ago and paid around $200 bind and drive. With no electronics it is worth around $100-150 maybe, not sure of even that.

I actually dont even know what i want to do with it.

Its just....an odd duck. Looks like it needs a lot of work to really do anything with honestly.

Throw in some electronics and have fun. Keep watching the classified section and add to it as needed.

Honestly its not a a lot of work, don't be afraid to do some work because all rc cars need work. Just get some electronics and try it. It is a much better start than starting from scratch. Trust me because I rebuilt mine when I was 17 years old while taking the SAT. Mine was in much worse shape than yours(it had fallen 30 feet straight done. chassis was fine but both axles, shocks and links were broken.). So give it a try.
