I have built my wheelyking up as much as I can. I see all these upgrades for the axial products and I can't keep from wanting to build on. So I decided to make a custom wheelyking-ax10 hybrid. I am going to use my old wheelyking crawler "calikingcrawler" as a donor truck I am using all the electronics from the king as well as the axles. I made a custom Teflon cuttingboard chassis using all the mounting whole from the stock ax10 chassis. My question to you is this, using wheelyking axles with the shock mounts turns 90 degrees and a ax10 chassis how long should I make my lower links to make the wheel base 12 1/2"? And if you have any tips please feel free to reply.

I am running king axles (locked)
Stock trans but locked.
75 turn integy motor.
Stock wheelyking electronics.
Rockster beadlocks and proline 2.2 m3 hammers"thumbsup"

I did something similar using WK axles and a TCS Edge frame with all axial suspension parts on it.

To get mine to a 12 1/2" wb I had the option of either using the mounting holes closest to the center line of the chassis, or shaving I think 3/8" off of the stock axials.

Hope this makes sense and helps. "thumbsup"

I'll give the stock links a try. Or make some out of allthread before I buy them to make sure that works. I'm not sure what you mean to shave the axle.

Thanks for the tips tho. Keep em coming. "thumbsup"

I think he meant shaving 3/8" off the Axial links. If you use 8-32 allthread, Revo ends and some tubing, you'll have a nice looking set of strong custom links.

T.D.

Ok thanks. I'll pickup some revo ends and work on that after work. Also can any one tell me how wide ( side to side ) the trans plate/skid plate is on the axial? And are the ax10 trans output shafts the same as the wheelykings?"thumbsup"

Good God! That will be like putting Pinto axels under a BMW roadster!

Post pics when you get it done!

It actually works pretty well, the only major advantage I've noticed that the axial axles have over WK axels is their smaller pumpkin profile.

Using WK axels gives you a wider track almost equal to axial axels with wheel wideners.

Exactly what I meant "thumbsup" but like I said the measurement is what I think it was been awhile since that came up.

I did notice the wider stance. Now I just wanted a wider chassis to to with it. Axial seemed to fit the bill. The wheelyking chassis is to narrow and produces massive torque twist when apply anything more to the throttle than a hair. The only real downfall to the axles tho is the diff to ground clearance, but with the right kinda driving that may notbe much of a problem. "thumbsup"

The stock chassis has few if any redeeming qualities, I love the combination of wk axels and axial based chassis.

The pumpkin clearence can be a pain, but as long as you pay attention to your lines it's not a huge hinderance.

Don't get me wrong the wheely king was a great first truck. Got me where I wanted when I wanted, just not right for comp.
I also wanted to use the rc-solutions.com roll cageon my new calicrawler. So I actually need the total with of the axial chassis from outside of chassis plate to outside of chassis plate. If you haven't seen this cage go check of out it fits perfectly under the betty truck body. "thumbsup"

I wasnt knocking the wk believe me I love mine...all the more so since I got rid of the stock chassis 8)

I have seen the roll cage, it looks great just not the look I'm into for my own trucks.

trans plate skid

i need to know the demensions of the trans skid plate. i want to make one from a 3/8 aluminium to add to the weight atthe bottom of the chassis.

I can get you those dimensions on Friday I'll be away from my crawlers till then.

Are you using stock wk tranny? If so then you'll probably want to clock the motor mount...if you dont the motor will hang out one side of the chassis.

I was planning on using if for now. untill i can get ahold of an axial one. I was actually going to try to figure out how to clock the motor plate tonigt. do you know of any teplates? also, are the axial tranny outputs the same as the wheelykings:?:

If you do a search in the WK forum I think there's a link to a template for the clocking plate. If not clod mod racing sells one.

WK transmision outputs and axle pinion shafts are 6mm, axials are 5mm. if you want to mate an axial trans to wk axles you can either order a 5-6mm adaptor (tcs or rc4wd) or you should be able to put axial diff parts in the wk axle case.

Does anyone have a photo of an axial with axial suspension using wheelyking axles? i want to get some ideas of how to set my 4 link."thumbsup"
