AX2 2 Speed Transmission for Axial Wraith & SCX10/Honcho

After a lot of use and abuse i broke my output shaft today:

Now i'm upgrading to the HD one 8)

I will be picking up this tranny in a couple of days for my JK kit I'm building. After running through this thread I'm just wondering if I should really worry about the HD shaft since I'm not really planning on running 3s or a high torque motor like the Pro4's that some people seem to be doing. I'm only really planning maybe a brushed 27t.

My buddy and I have been running 3S and 35T motors with this trans for months, no issues. I just ordered my 3rd "thumbsup". Once you go "2 speeds" you can never go back!

Thanks guys that's what I was hoping. Actually if it wasn't for this tranny I don't know if I would've bought the truck. I like the idea of being able to do double duty having the 2 speed.

I wiped out mine yesterday. Haven't taken it apart yet, but no rear drive but everything still appears attached. Should be interesting. I got about 6-8 packs on it. Hope the HD shaft comes in soon.

I need one STILL! I can't believe that they are not on top of this issue. Bad azz trans with a major weak point and it has been out of stock for over a month. I contacted customer service and was told to buy the replacement gear set....which I did, and they refunded me some of the cost. But I fear the "new" output shaft it came with will break again SOON. RC4WD, If you are reading this... WE NEED THE HD SHAFT IN STOCK! "thumbsup"

EDIT: Just ordered 2:ror:

It was in stock yesterday. Good news for though, apparently I busted a m4 traxxas pin that's in my punisher instead of the output, so rafter I got the pieces out and stuck a new pin in, I am back in business.

Needing some suggestions on a shift servo, mine was just an old hitec i found in my spare parts bin, it gets a million degrees no matter what I do so I'm going to pick up a new one. Any suggestions guys.

looking for something affordable

I am guessing your servo is probably getting super hot because of an end point problem, or lack there of?

I am just using some low dollar metal gear servo on mine, but have also used plastic geared one as well.

A 645mg or something similar is probably more then enough, but I would make sure your end points are setup good.

Not a hard thing to do.

Dial down the EPA so that it doesn't max and over heat.

Then just turn up the EPA until the tranny shifts.

Other way is to just dial back your setting now until the servo stops humming.

I'm running a Hitec 65mg mini servo underneath and so far it's held up to hundreds of shifts. I think it was $24.99

Here's my alternate setup which leaves room for the battery crossways on the chassis just in front of the trans. After some "hit or miss" shifting issues, I put a thin slice of fuel tubing under the ballends to eliminate side to side movement. I used an Axial axle mount servo plate bolted to the frame.
