Axial ESC AE-2 Reviews??

Just got one from RPP's scrap yard.

DL'd the new Link software from Castle first thing,
and got everything working from the computer
end of things using the Field Link/USB Card interface
just fine. Has its own Axial front page BTW.

BUT, I can not seem to upgrade the Field Link Card
itself to see the AS-2 ESC as a recoqnizable unit
to operate W/O the USB and computer in the "field"

I keep geting the alternating light flash error code,
= unknown ESC?, even after updating everything
I could find thru the computer interface.

I emailed Castle about it just a few minutes ago,
and will reply here with anything they may offer
to keep it fresh.

This AE-2 ESC unit is so new, that we are hearing about it after-the-fact, and there is little to no info on Axial's page, which was mirrored by RCC's review on the front page of this site.

Brushed only version of the sidewinder (? if case only?)
but missing the third lead for BL because it has a different board inside.

I am sorry I can not tell you more,
hope its just me not doing something right,
and that my Field Card is not bad,
damn things only one day old and the updates
said they completed correctly.

Even the Field card update said it completed ok,
but no go yet....?

Ill be in touch

Dave

Alright I see all the ones outa the RPPHOBBY scrap yard are gone. Lets get some vids or more feedback on this little puppy.....

Skullking

I have not received a reply from Castle yet,
and after talking to several people who have
spoken with them in the past who told me
"oh yeah, no problem, they will get back to you soon,
they are very good about that"...
I am starting to wonder why?

I even posed my questions from the Castle Link end of things,
so they should have at the very least said,
contact Axial about it, yet not even that from them so far.

(How much ya wanna bet Axial would then
tell me to contact Castle anyway?)

Oh well, here I was wanting to upgrade a half dozen of my rigs
with pure Castle products / serious money in a single order.

But if they cant even take the time............

The only thing it shares with the sidewinder is the plastic case and heat sink (and great quality control). Otherwise it is a totally new ESC inside.

It may not be rolled into the field link compatibility since it isn't Castle brand. I would contact Axial first for questions and issues since it is their ESC.

Well I'm real new to all this but I have an ax10 with that speed control and I'm running a 2 cell 2200mah lipo and it seems great the drag didn't work at all I programed it with the link it was at 50% I maxed it out at 100% and it's a world of difference but when it's sitting on a pretty steep slope it still starts to creep down which I guess I could compensate with trim but that's not a fix but it works and I've ran about 10-15 packs through it. Hope this helps or somebody with more tech chimes in

When i had esc problems with the Ae-2 axial informed me to use the castle link to set the drag and take the lipo mode off...its default on mine..now i have no problems...knock on wood.
