Axial RECON Ultra 4 G6 at King of the Hammers

Thanks everyone involved. Axial, Parker and all that helped out. As one of the rude Ultra drivers, I too apologize if I pissed anyone off. That said, I think it needs to be more emphasis that adventure class is not a race, and Ultra class is a race in the drivers meeting. According to the rules, ultra drivers have the right of way. I said "excuse me ultra driver, can I pass?" and was either ignored or given a hard time for asking about 1/2 the time.

So I guess the question is, what is an Ultra driver supposed to do when an adventure class driver does not want to let them around? None of us wants to piss anyone off, but at the same time ultra class is racing.

Make 2 courses.

Push the women and children to the ground and grab the guy's asses....that'll get everybody out of the way pretty quickly. At least, that's what I heard they did when the G6 went to Arkansas...

racing is racing I get that and I dont blame the drivers in the ultra class. To me it felt like a trial and error event, we have now tried and now it can be fixed. we were all there to have FUN and lets try to remember that. "thumbsup"

when is the next event?

Shoot, I had a fricken' blast with all of you clowns! If it was totally coordinated and whatnot it probably wouldn't be as fun. Half the challenge is navigating the course and around stopped or slower rigs or rigs being winched. Thanks Parker, Axial and everyone who was there, what a helluva good time and what an honor to be there. "thumbsup"

I agree with Rockedup Ricky, two courses...make the ultra course smaller with multiple laps since those kids are there to race, or run them first and start the event earlier in the day, FWIW.

Hey, did anyone count how many times Parker threw in "...Axial Recon Ultra 4 G6..."

Need to make that a notebook standard at each event he's at...

This should let ya'lls know an ultra driver is coming up....

LMAO........ I was just trying to load that pic but I couldn't get the sound to work. You've got to get the sound effects with it. That's just to funny you posted it before I did.

Welcome to the King of the Hammers.

I am working on the recap, but what I can tell you is this...

The 2013 King of the Hammers was an experience that I will never forget.

I have watched and followed the KOH online since its inception and being there was live changing.

As far as the Axial RECON Ultra4 G6, over 50% of the field was experiencing their first RECON G6. Every G6 is different. It is designed that way.

After experiencing the 2013 King of the Hammers up close and personal on Friday. How close??? I took a power nap on Claw Hammer; 12 foot away from the action until serious horsepower in the form of Pit Bull sponsored driver, Kevin Yoder came blasting up the canyon!!!

I knew then that to capture the essence of the King of the Hammers, a multi-lap G6 was in order.

The Axial RECON Ultra4 delivered! Action, confusion, passing, carnage, comaradery, team work, and drivers making decisions. Hell, we even have post event drama, just like the real thing, which embraces the "keep it scale" philosophy.

Here are some of my highlights, but you'll have to read the recap for more details.

- Meeting Chip Cross. My prayers are with you and your family. God Speed, my friend and I admire your will and strength. "thumbsup"

- Winning the first ever "happy hour" KOH Dakar Fire Rally! It's in the screen name or was until I lost the second rally to teammate Ryan Gerrish! "thumbsup"

- G6'n with Ultra4 racers and off-roading legends.

- Spending the week with grease monkey's and r/c enthusiasts that are as passionate as I am about our sport/hobby.

More to come, but first;

Thank you all for the kind words and for making it out to the first ever Axial RECON Ultra4 G6. 80 G6'ers made this RECON G6 one for the history books and I love each and every one of you for that!

Do Work, G6'ers and welcome the G6 Family! "thumbsup"

Parker, you are the man.... Great final words to captivate the G6 Koh experience !!! You are the personality that makes a G6 a........G6!!
Big Props to you and the G6 Crew for makin it all happen.......Axial is lucky to have you...........!!!!

It was fun, crowded or not people hittin my rig me crawlin over theirs, i had a blast thats racing and a scale version of the 2012 1:1 KOH. It was fun w everyone on the same course but maybe next time, start 2 at a time, with a longer time gap between rows and spread out the field, Start the first part of the course out with longer open sections to give them a chance to spread out, then halfway, the field should separate into their own sections to complete the lap. Just an Idea.

I've been watching this thread for the past day or so and I figure I would throw in my 2 cents. As a first time G6er and ultra class driver I had a fantastic time! But as a racer at heart I wanted to get throw traffic as soon as possible I did bump a few other drivers some on accident others on purpose with there consent to help them up the trail. My suggestion is not two different courses but two different races. Have the adventure class go earlier in the day and as a main event watch the adrenaline filled crazy guys like myself run around the same course with more laps why'll sippin on a cold one. This would solve most problems I believe as I am a racer at heart and don't with to Hurt anyone's rig or feelings when I need to run them down to get past them.

Ya know, I think we are all whining a bit too much. We all had the KOH spirit. The real deal has traffic jams, they monster truck other competitors if necessary, its all just part of the fun. I keep going back to the sand hill obstacle during the Every Man Challenge on Thursday; it was a big traffic pile up there too. The Ausse's overtook Currie's time at that point and would have beat him had they not had the technical DNF.

Heck traffic jams add more realism. Someone breaks or gets stuck on an obstacle, the rest of the group cant progress.
