i think they cut down on metal parts such as links and such to keep it at the price it is at if they had all metal stuff it would cost more, i dont see it as a big deal the plastic links work great for getting it out there and playing and if your cheap you can save up and buy the metal link kit and your done"thumbsup"

At that price, you can't expect "top of the line" stuff...RTR's usually target newcomers or those who don't want to wrench/modify/tune their rigs. Looks like a great way for those just getting started to run a scaler, and an awesome base truck for those of us that just have to tear it all apart and make it better. Just my 2 cents worth.

If you had asked me a few weeks ago I would've been against the idea of a RTR scaler, but this thing is looking like a really killer little truck "thumbsup"
I've got a few idea's already for those bumper's and rock slider's on my SCX10 as well.

I guess scale trucks are getting pretty mainstream these days.
I'm not a real big RTR fan either, but this truck is really nice looking nonetheless.
It's good to see a spare tire mounted. A scale truck has to have a spare on hand "just in case". A few LED's are a nice touch too, it probably costs very little for Axial to add them but what an excellent addition from a marketing standpoint.
I don't really see plastic links being much of an issue, if it's the same plastic the shock towers and crossmembers are molded of that I'm used to seeing from Axial. Should be tough enough to get the job done and keeps the price point of the truck at an attractive level. RTR's are about getting new people interested in the hobby after all, they have to be reasonably priced or they ain't gonna sell. Cheaper parts spec's like these also drive the aftermarket, which in the long run is a good thing for everyone.
Props to the guys at Axial. It sure seems like the SCX10 is already a home run for you, an RTR version should do even better. Especially when it looks this good right out of the box...

Yep I'll be getting one of these for my son so he can roll with me. It's perfect for a beginner and with Axial and aftermarket support, if it breaks it'll be easy and cheap to fix.

The RTR looks very nice, well done Axial. The bumbers are on my want list now. I agree about the Axial plastic being very high quality. I built my first crawler, an SCX10, last week and I was very impressed with the plastic quality. It reminds me of the plastic Kyosho uses for their race kits and that's very good stuff. The RB5 is the toughest 2wd buggy that I've ever owned and it's durability is tested every time I hit the track with it.
