I’m looking at comments all over fb and they start off mad about cancelled events then boom. Arguing over politics, presidents and crap.
Agreed, guys. Let's not politicize this. It doesn't matter which side of the fence you are on.
Didnt Axial change to a manufacturer in China recently? Bad move. I REALLY dont like how so many brands are owned by Horizon. If they go under, it would suck for the hobby.
I saw a post earlier from Beef Tubes that Horizon charged a very large fee to be a vendor at Axialfest and that is why some vendors pulled out. Looks like he deleted it though. I have no idea how much these events cost to put on, but it seems to me that Axial should do ok just by ticket sales and selling product at the event? Just doesnt seem like they advertise the events as heavily as they could.

Pro-Line being owned by Horizon makes me hope PLBTF doesn't also get canceled.

I haven't been a fan of Axial sense they took over the West Coast Nationals many moons ago, and made it the first Axialfest. When Axial did this, they limited the rigs that could attend to Axial only, no mini comp rigs, no super comp rigs. Axial did this just a couple of weeks before the event, so there were a lot of people that did not have Axial rigs were out travel and lodging expenses.
In addition to crapping all over the competitors, they also crapped all over the mom and pop media producers that gave up a lot of their time and resources to produce videos for Axial, which helped Axial grow. When these mom and pops showed up to the first Axialfest, they were told that only "professional media" were being invited in, and all non-professional media would have to pay the admission fee.

They were bad about that. I went to 2017 Axialfest with a couple friends. My buddy was driving a trx4 around the vendor area and they came unglued. Started yelling at us and one of them chased us back to his camper. Dude was an ass about it.
Funny thing was I had an scx10ii xj body on my trx4. It was sitting on the picnic table and he didn't notice what it was. Even though i had a few axials with me, I ended up driving that thing the most of the weekend out of spite.
I kinda expected them to turn PLBTF into axial only.

I've never tried bringing a non Axial truck to Axialfest (although I am considering bringing my Optic if they actually host the event next year), but it does seem like they're a bit more lenient with other manufacturers trucks at the event. I've seen some TRX4s and Hammer Reys driving around, and some of the vendors have also had some FMS and RC4WD trucks on display or for sale too. They even let my IFS truck with an Integy rear axle pass tech, although they were looking it over for like 15 minutes before they gave me the sticker (never took the body off to check anything else, just the underside). I was kinda expecting that though, and I didn't plan on using it in any events anyway. I just wanted the sticker lol.

Crawlers and Coffee host events all around where you are and are large contributors at PLBTF. I don’t have FB so I don’t get regular updates but rather large monthly events south of the San Gabriels and horseman’s center and surrounding areas.
RC Girl, Hayley even had an event somewhere north of the 210 in the foothills a little while back.

Horizon.First they cancelled Axialfest. This personally doesn't affect me, but I feel bummed for you guys that were looking forward to it.
Second, they just released some of the new NASCAR and the price jumped from $180 to $250. $70 or nearly 40% increase. Hard pass on that.

If they were thinking on their feet they'd ink a deal quick to bust out a #30 Kinetic car in that lineup. Cleetus could mention that in one of his videos and they'd sell 10k units in an instant guaranteed.
Good idea. You should be in marketing at the disaster known as Horizon! I'll admit that I don't "get" the whole Cleetus thing. He's goofy as hell. But his popularity is undeniable. He's so popular that even NASCAR has jumped on his coattails which I think is great for the sport that I love.
Politics aside, the economy is in a wait and see cluster F moment. Businesses have to focus on a smaller and localized approach financially while they look for alternative suppliers to offset the tariff/trade war sh*t show(good luck) to stay afloat globally.
Holding overseas/any large scale events these days is just a poor business decision. No different than CEO's getting bonuses while "restructuring", losing money and/or laying off people.
I'm a Yota guy but hating on Axial/Horizon is like hating on Ford for having the best selling trucks on the market. Just my economically conservative and social libertarian minded POV but Idiocracy aint just a movie anymore.
Start your own events with neighbors and local shops, swap parts, enjoy the hobby and grow your scene.
