Absolutely…. Styrene is super easy to work with. Sherwin Williams, had a gallon of real MEK not the MEK substitute. I would recommend sourcing the real stuff if it’s still available.

No updates other than a possible suspension redesign……..

Tossed on some 4.19’s and man I am digging the overall look. I am planning on running the original rear flare in a slightly different position than currently mounted. The front fenders will get some type of treatment. I can’t do the wide front flare.

Alright. This is what I came up so far for fenders.
I had an extra set of axial og flares. I couldn’t take the width of the provided front flares. So I ended up running rear flares front and rear.

Mounted…

This is like watching a scaled-down version of Fab Rats YouTube channel - A very cool customized Jeep is being created!

Killer fender work..."thumbsup"

I have a set of discontinued RC4WD aluminum add-on fenders with an attached quarter panel that I have been searching for a body to install on - I, too have 2 pair of the same except I believe mine are fronts all 'round. I believe they were originally meant for the Axial Jeep Rubicon body, but I want to go a different route, and have a couple potential options - going to have to test them out and see which will be the eventual winner.

Thank you my man. I went with the OG axial Jeep flares to cut weight overall. I was considering some smaller diameter rod with aluminum or thin steel inlay. I guess that’s still a possibility. I’m not 100% sold on the current set up. Yeah I have a set of fronts to durok. If you removed the complete panel and attached the aluminum fender recessed.

I ended up ordering some of the ultra short Drav’s to match my current 90mm versions on hand.

Ended up shaving a set of the rcfabtabs shock mounts to accommodate the shorter Drav’s and lack of room in the rear.

Fronts are set up pretty well as is. I need to burn them in.

The tire size has been determined. I’m going with the 4.75 Krawler. The larger tire just fits the long body IMO. I think a 4.50 tire would be perfect but I don’t have any on hand and I just dropped some coin on some more suitable wheels. I’m really starting to fall for this build now she is standing on its own. The stance is pretty nasty [emoji40]

Yes, it looks pretty awesome!

I hate to be that guy, but I really wish a few select tires were offered in a 4.5-4.6” size. Km3’s, krawlers, mtr’s…

I appreciate it twade and you are correct. There isn’t much out there in the 4.50 range. I couldn’t just leave it alone with new wheels for this build. I ended up pulling the trigger on a set of the KM2 BFG offered by rc4wd. This tire is 4.56 I believe and I used them on a recent 4Rnr build I did. I really liked how they worked on that build so…….

I’m thinking this combo will help dial in that iconic trail Jeep look. Filled the tires with some Dual stage CI foam and vented the sticky rubber properly.

Need to work on body mounts next.

Wanted to show you guys the end stance of this thing. I still need to burn in the body mounts on the frame, figure electrical routing and paint. The Jeep is sitting just right imo and is nearing a test run.

Pics.

I unbolted the license plate bracket and all of its overhang. I found this hole right behind it that needs addressed.

Twade I appreciate the kind words. I guess I do have a style now that you mention it. Most likely the tunnel vision I have with Offroad builds.

Adam I’m starting a C1 hardbody build after I wrap this one up. I have the goodies I just can’t decide what body to go with. I love those yotas and Jeeps the same I guess. Keep us posted brother.

Thank you kind sir. I haven’t spent much time on the build lately. I did manage to complete the body mounts. I still need to do a little clean up but they turned out. I placed them so they could be adjusted with spacers or washers to adjust the ride height.

Body mounts.

The build is coming along. I need to fill the license plate delete and go over the entire thing with a lighter grit paper. Then knock out some inner fenders. Paint is going to be tricky. It’s blue cold here in WV. I have a heated shop but I don’t like to spray with the doors shut. I will get that part figured out last.

Those tires will surprise you...

I bought a set for my ascender because 4.8s just look cartoonish on it. I thought because of the tread pattern I might give up a little performance for the sake of a more scale look. I gotta say that I have been thoroughly impressed with the performance of those tires on trails, and especially on the rocks.

I’m happy to hear this. I ended up running a set of them with the same CI dual stage foam I put in this set. They hooked up great! I prefer the smoother tread pattern on the rocks all day. The knobby tread tires cause a natural bounce/ separation at the point of contact. The smoother tire just spins and bites.

I made a bit of reportable progress. I managed to get the interior and cage painted. The interior turned out well enough. It will require some cargo and detail work. The cage turned out the part.
