Back ground:
Ordered some riding gear from a merchant in California. Box shows up today cut open nothing inside. I called the merchant and they tell me they have to file a complaint with USPS that can take up to 4 weeks. I ask for a refund, and I am told i have to wait for the results of the investigation/dispute before they can refund or replace the gear.

My question is should I just file a claim with my CC company and get the money back now? I don't think i should have to wait 3-4 weeks because a thief in the USPS decided he needed my gear more than me.

What say you shippers and receivers of goods?

P.S. I filed a theft claim with the postmaster so they will probably catch the perp in 10-15 years:roll:

The shipper didn't lose it, the post office did.

Claim with CC company gives vendor bad rep, which they don't deserve in this case.

They should handle it better, but that's on them.

I shipped 2 BNIB sets of VP wheels, rings & hubs to a fellow member here & the box showed empty. He even sent me a pic of the postman holding the box with a CONTENTS NOT INSIDE stamp. I coulda told the dude when I get my cash or parts...I'll forward it on to you. I just refunded him. It's neither of our fault & I'm DEFINITELY not swimmin in cash but since the claim was on my end...figured I'd do right by the guy. MX shop should do the same. Repeat biz & word of mouth is what keeps shops alive.

You're being lied to....the SHIPPER has to handle that stuff with USPS, not the other way around.......every time I've ever had a lost package, either as a seller or buyer, it was always on the seller side to claim the problems, even the insured stuff works like that.

Truth... till it gets to you in correct ordered condition, it is not your responsibility. They should send you a replacement and deal with it between the seller and the shipper.

That's like going to a drive through food place (insert favorite bad food place Mickey D's, Wendy's, BK, Taco Bell, etc). You order your food at drive through, you pull around to window and get a torn bag with nothing in it. And having the window attendant say the kitchen says well it is not out problem as we made it correctly, it must have fallen out between there and the window.
