Now....you need to ditch the stock txt chassis all together and build your own. I love what you've done up to this point though.

Thanks again. This was the first truck I bought, and it was put on the shelf when Kevin introduced his Stick chassis. Then about one week before the big Shafty thread made it's appearance, out of no where I wanted to drive this one again. And here you have it.

The wheelbase is 15 3/8 inches. It'd be 15 1/2 if I left the little plastic pieces on the links.

After I saw the Stampede tranny in a TXT thread, I've definately got some plans for it. With the tranny laid down, to me it looked like almost an inch could be taken off the chassis braces if you shave the Stampede's motor plate a little. And a buddy can do carbon fiber, so something is in the works.

But it was definately an inspirational read. And good to see people showing an interest in the shafties again. Clods kick butt, but shafties are fun. And the TXT is great.

It doesn't have a very lot of flex, but I have yet to see that be a problem. With the blue Chevy body mounted, and in need of some trimming, it has even less flex, and I think it works real well.

EeePee...How is the clearance of the standard maxx wheels with the links? I noticed you didnt trim the steering stops. I you were to trim those would it the wheel setup hit the links?

Peeeelenty of room. Stops are trimmed as of this picture. And I'm not too sure if the knuckles go any further, as the base of the arm of the knuckle hits the axle. Hard to describe, easy to see. Maybe a little bit more turnage?

Thanks for the pics EeePee. Have you tried the standard offset maxx with the GTs on your TXT. I think I might build my txt instead of my clod.

Standard offset is a no go. Contact with the shock, and the link.

Wide offset is fine.

I am new to crawlers but have been into RC for many years. This is a hobby and unfortunately hobbies cost money. To answer your question about how much for a nice Crawler...it all depends on what you consider a nice crawler. My suggestion to you would be to scan through all of the threads on this forum and see what you want to do. This is a great mode for information and everyone is willing to help.

I found this after I started mine and purchased items that I do not need. That is the expensive way to learn. I have been building mine since before Christmas. I don't even keep track of the $$$. If I did I would probably have a heart attack.

Are you upper and lower links the same lenght ? are they stock length? I started rebuilding my txt like this and left my lowers the same length as stock , but i had to shorten my uppers to keep pinion angle neutral. thanks for the info

Totally stock links. I did remove the plastic ring on each end, those 1/8 inch thick black things that went on before the ball end. The hole on the frame that I drilled was made a little inboard to get my pinion angle right.

The original bottom links are now the top links, did you catch that part?

I didnt know that the links were different in size from top to bottom...i wsa pretty tired last night when i was getting done. thanks for the tips :lol:

This truck turned into my 14'r. Which currently has two 35 turns wired in series.

I just put in a 55t with a 12t pinion and it seems to have plenty of torque and adequate wheel speed...
