Battery for scx10II

That would be fine yes.

Personally, I never use hard cases in my crawlers. They're bulky, heavy and cost more.
Would I be better off going down to say a 4200 soft pack for weight savings? As well as spending a little less

Meh, the hard packs are made for safety, there is less of a chance of puncturing the battery if some how it falls out in the rocks, crashes and tumbles. These are slim chances but chances all the same.

Hey guys looking for battery suggestion

I'm going to be running a hobbywing1080 with the HH trailmaster 35t 15/56

Based on specs and trying to stay around 30 tops for a single battery I found this one

Is this a good buy for a 2cell?

thats gear a little high for a crawler, 3.73:1... better off running a 10 or 11 tooth pinion gear. any reason for staying with 2s? I run all mine on 3s with no issues...

this is what I run in my scout based scx10.2...brushed HH trailmaster sport 35t on a 1080wp esc"thumbsup"

I will look Into the gearing and see about going down in pinion size. I was going to stay 2 cell as I'm building the truck for my 2 year old so I wanted something a little slower

then you definitely want to gear down..."thumbsup"

Although all I have a soft 3s lipos, I would get hard packs, just cause I think that extra protection will help out if the battery ever catches fire, might give you a few extra seconds to pull the battery before you rig goes up in flames. I’ve only ever seen Harley’s exo-terra catch fire in a video.

I fly rc as well and I've been around lipos for a long time I'm just new to crawling. I actually experienced a lipo fire before related to rc flying. I lost my home back in March 2017 to a fire (was NOT lipo related). I think I'm going to stay with a hard pack just as you suggested for the added protection

You can't beat batteries from HobbyKing. There's no reason to look at other, fly by night brands.

This compact stick pack is what I use: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-nano-tech-4200mah-2s2p-40-80c-hardcase-stick-pack.html

The C-rating above is kinda overkill for crawlers only, but I also use mine in go-fast RCs. If you want something similar checkout this one: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/nano-tech-4200mah-2s-25c-hardcase.html

If you want smaller and lighter you can get the 2200mAh soft packs.
