Bavarian Bully

Did some maintenance on my Bully,now the machine is ready to scratch some rocks in france :twisted:
I´m very happy to meet some cool crawling-enthusiastic people again,and become acquainted with many new ones! On thursday morning my flight goes to Marseille,hope the weather forecast will change a little bit because we have already enough water in the sea ;-)

Unhappily time is to short to let it rock in france,but right after there i´ll test this axle and see how it works. 71g (2,47oz) without gears+shaft is really lightweight and now the motor is much closer to the axle,that could be a big advantage.I think i can also reduce my big front knuckleweights to get just the same balance as now,we will see 8)

After worlds (i ended at 8th place) is before worlds ;-)
So time to mount my rear from Robbob.At first i assembled all the bearings and drive shaft.Everything fits perfect,great job Bob "thumbsup" The smallest bearings (5x9x3) are not needed because the small gears are also kept off!

Then i put it to my chassis,lower links are matching,the same with the shocks only the upper links have to become a little bit longer (perhaps with longer rodends but i will built straight new ones)

1744g (3,85lb) without Lipo is a big difference!! But with a light rear axle it´s possible to save a lot of weight for the the same balance.So i reduced my knuckleweights and also changed to the light skinny rovers with soft foams.
A first test on the rocks feels new to me,very nimble and agile,i love it from the first lipo "thumbsup" To drive over ledges it´s exactly what i´ve expected,it´s definitely easier because of the smaller gearbox!
Unfortunately came some rain,so i could only crawl half a hour but i´m looking forward to the next time

I do like those axles. Do you have some more info about them... Gears etc. I want my motor closer to the axle also..

They use all the existing internal parts from a Bully2 rear axle - all you will need is our axle and then swap every thing over inside. :twisted:
 
Plans for a front version? And you have a link with a price?

Official release will have all the info in it, we're shooting for mid November. Wanna give our 3 test axles some time to tear things apart. "thumbsup"

Another idea to perfect the rear axle: a one-piece titanium shaft to save even more weight and for maximum stability ;-)
Today is sunny weather,so time to go out and try some hard lines 8)

A one piece axle would def be the top dog for the axle. Wish I had the machines to do it properly but since the axle is all stock length it would be nice if someone could do it.

Once these are available I will be ordering one of these. "thumbsup""thumbsup"

Really liking this diff, love that it moves the motor nice and close to the tube and make the gear box smaller. Sweet design Robbob.
 
After driving some lipos with the new rear axle i´m very impressed,i think for me it´s a game changer!
Better clearance over ledges is definetely,but i think the biggest advantage is the less weight.Now it´s sometimes much more easier to move the rear and the car feels in many situations easier to handle,not so clumsy "thumbsup"

So because of this i tried to loose as much weight as possible in the rear and i put on the front just as much weight as needed for a good balance.
I made some lightweight plastic-wheels like Laalaa and Jens did:

I also built some carbon upper links for the rear.And now i´m waiting for a titanium axle shaft from Creeperbob which will also reduce the weight.
For the moment i´m at 1711g RTR with Lipo and a good bias:

So with the titanium axle it should be less then 1700g.I also bent some new rear lowers for a little bit more clearance

Now it´s time to do some tests to see how this works for me! I will try out some different foams,shock oil,and add some knuckleweights to see when i´m in the sweet point.But so far,it feels very new and interesting for me ;-)
