Looking at a set of bead locks. Does the lock ring screws go thru the tire, or does the ring just clamp it to the rim?

Thanks
Rob

I can't seak for all types of beadlocks but the Maxmizers just clamp the tire to the rim... And there's only 1 set of screws on the Maximizers as the one ring will push everything back onto the formed one and grip... They do very well for being single sided... I haven't spun a tire on them yet and I hit the rocks hard...

I think just about any beadlock you'll find on here is a clamp design. I've never seen a beadlock where the screws actually went through the tire, although you sure wouldn't have to worry about the tire pulling out then I guess :)
