Bearings Or Bushing On Trial Trucks?

iam asking this to see what people prefer.i know that bearings out perform bushings but with the abuse we give our trucks, mud water etc bushing almost make more sense. yes i know they will eventually wear down the axle shafts and what nots but they wont freeze up when they get wet.

i just tore down my high lift after a bit of a mud play and the rear axle had 3 rusted bearings. haven't tackled the front yet.

i race alot of different types of rc as well and know the importance of bearings but i just don't see it as a necessity for them in these type trucks.

what are your thoughts ?

I run bearings and take the time to tear down every run. Its a pain in the ars but its my preferance for it. I ran bushings in my clod for a while but as you said they wear out and id rather clean then replace all the time. I guess it depends on how much time you want to spend on your baby. Side note, bearings are more efficent.

It's a personal preference choice, you have to sacrifice one thing to gain another. What i mean is lets talk Bearings:

You'll get lock ups and rust for driving in water but you will gain longer runtime and smoother running in the long run

Teflon:

You'll have no lock ups in water but will lose slight runtime.

It's really up to yourself what you want to run, myself, i would run teflon for the simple reason they wont get rusty or lock up. ;-)

In my scale rig I have tried many differant bearings that claim to be waterproof, in the end they were just a waste of money. Now I run bushings without a care.

I run bearings I just can't stand the binding. As many bearings as there are in axles, 20 alone in TLT axles, it adds up fast. When bearings go out do to water, rust mud ect. I replace them as nessisary. You still still need to pop open the cases and regrease the diff gear anyways. Rubber sealed ones hold out longer then the metal sheilded. But since you have no way to relube rubber shielded they do die.

since we are on th subject...has anyone had trouble with getting their high lift axles to spin free ? ive put many of kits together and even work on my dirt oval tranny's and carpet cars where having a a free rolling drive train is very important but for the life of me and all the little tricks i know i can not get the high lift axles to spin really free. i have come to the conclusion that its in the case and how tight it fits together. backing the screws out some help but its still not what i would like.

You know the knuckles are left and right specific right? If they are put on backwards the can bind up the axle some.

i just run bearings in me axles and tranny they get submerged in mud water, and other elements. they seem to last awhile as long as you get the rubber shielded ones. and if you buy the from walla walla on ebay there only like 12 dollars a set.

To me it just seems easier to stay away from mud and water. RC cars were not designed for it.

bushing or bearings

has anyone tried the Team Blue Star high performance precision sealed bearings for the high lift . i was a purchaser of bearings for a GE certified rebuild plant for mining equipment.i have seen every size and shape of bearing some as much as 3 feet across costing 10,000 dollars a bearing.these team blue star look like awesome bearings made r\c specific.if anyone knows why i should not purchase these for my new high lift please tell me.
