Because I’m jealous of my wife’s rig, scale truck build

They are priced high. Chassis kit is $555. I kind of liked the new Zil until I saw the price is $740. Were they always that expensive or is it because of the tariffs?

ETA Prices above are from Boom's site.

I think the reason for the high price is all the metal parts. I have a buddy building 2 of them right now and he said it’s pretty much all metal/ cnc parts.

The BRX01 looks awesome. For the price, it had better be perfect and bulletproof. Interested to hear your review of it.

They look pretty good and well thought out. Buddy of mine sends pics over as he builds his. Comes with little tools to make life easier like a pivot ball tool. We’ll see how it goes!

I think you'll be MUCH happier with the Boom Racing kit, I'm itching to get one someday myself, but I have an RC4WD Marlin and all the parts to upgrade it to perform about as well as a leaf-sprung RC chassis can get. Just have to bolt all that stuff together! I even have a metal CCHand work-truck bed with a headache rack for it...

I think I’m already happier. I didn’t even open any packages on the killerbody and was disappointed lol

That can do it.

I've been itching to build a leafer but havent decided what platform I want to start with. I plan on Twisted Metal Fab leaf springs so it will be either VS410 or TF2 based.

Bed came in and it’s a beauty! Beautiful wood floor and the sides all fold down. Came with mounts and mudflaps. Price is a bit steep for it but it appears to be worth it.

Received the wheels today too. Boom racing steelies 1.55s. Very cool that it comes with a scale hub cap. Decided to mount them up to the new tires while I wait for the brx01 chassis.

And yes, I also think that bed is worth it. I thought I scored the last one available too, but apparently not. I looked at several different websites and only found one black Kober bed available. I think I paid close to $200 for mine.

It's heavy for a reason, it's solid. I've beat mine up, dragging it over and banging it into lots of rocks. It can haul serious weight too.

The metal shrouds surrounding the light housings have definitely saved my light buckets several times.

If you take off the besides and tailgate you'll have a cool flatbed too.

I think I saw your build. I really like the bed. Think it will do well and fit the build the best.

I paid about $235 for mine. But, it was either this one for the other flat bed but now shipping is showing $500 lol no way.

I noticed the sides can come off with screws. I dig the sides coming down, like a delivery truck for Lowe’s, Menards and Home Depot.

Sheesh. All kinds of mishaps on my part 😆

Returning killerbody chassis- forgot I put my new nsdrc servo in the box, in hopes not to lose it. Now, it’s in the box on the way back to Amain. Hoping they will return both and I’ll just buy another…

The bed I bought says tf2 but looks exactly like the other beds I see. I see no difference. But, I was on Rc4wds website and it says that the particular one I bought doesn’t fit the brx01. Sweet 👎. So, I’m returning that bed through eBay, hoping the seller will return it. While I just ordered the one that says it fits brx01 through Asia tees. BUT, it ships from Hong Kong. Who knows how long that will take.

Shoeeeeeweee what a mess.

This is why I usually buy the truck, build it, then order all the parts to tear it back down and put all the parts on. I was hoping to have a stack of parts ready to go on and be able to spend a weekend day just building.

Sounds like a custom build; trial and error.

I was fortunate that the Kober bed's front attachment points just happened to align with the front leaf hangers for the springs. The GCM CMax chassis allows you to move everything (suspension, drivetrain, body mounts) forward and aft to make things line up.

I'm confident once your truck is done you won't be bummed about having spent the extra time to get it right. And once you get your hands on that Boom Racing chassis you'll be stoked.

I’m just hoping I’m done making mistakes lol. I’m far too impatient for this.

I was gonna risk it and just use the Rc4wd bed but the price difference is what made me return and buy another. Rc4wd $240 and Asiatees was $150. They look identical besides 4 holes for mounting under the headache rack.

Definitely, I’m excited to build it and put it on these tires and wheels.

Oh man. It’s here!

Very nicely packaged. Got myself number 2047. That in its self is cool, with the vin and card you get. Opening the box;

What?! It comes with a scale dog? There’s other ones you can get and a mystery one. I got myself a German Shepard. Comes with the little screw size finding tool as well. Everything looks so good, all metal axles, prebuilt, prebuilt trans and t case, shocks. They went all out! Best kit opening I’ve done, and that tops the optic.

Now I just need to finish the body. I worked on the doors last night. Installing the roll up windows and I also gave the cab paint.

Also, I need my servo back, or order a new lol.

This thing is legit. The quality of parts is really good. The instructions were easy to follow and detailed. The axles, trans and t case being built already, definitely sped up the process.

THE ONLY THING, I had an issue with, was the rear drive shaft. The collar and pinion wouldn’t line up with the supplied spacer. After about half and hour of frustration, I used other spacers I had and the pin went right in. Doesn’t seem to have much play, so we’ll see how it does.

Thanks for posting the pic so clearly of the Boom Racing screw gauge - I've been looking for something like that all over the place -I ordered 3 of 'em just now using the part number!

Thanks for posting pics. Howeverz, I'm disappointed that it's, also, not a really a true scale or good iteration of a chassis for that body, so for ME, thats a bummer again! Definitely looks durable, and less Wal-Mart grade though!!!! Should last as long as scx10ish. I may, actually, I am going to just buy the chassis for the 1/9 Toyota LC80 (I have that, too) and see if it would fit under this with a slight stretch or so......... has radius arms up front.
*Edit: bed looks awesome 👌
I'm not sure if I'm after this, "stolen image of someone's bed". lol but this looks sweet imho
